Not really sure where this thread belongs. I guess either here or in Great Debates. Please move if it is in the wrong place.
This the best article I have ever read on the stem cell issue. Jill Stanek really nails Fox. She shows how he is willing to kill innocent human life to possibly save his. In other words, he sees some human life as more valuable. Sound like anyone else?

Why can’t people see this issue for the holocaust that it is? It is even worse than the people who supported killing people in Iraq because it might make us safer.
You’ll all be sorry you didn’t listen to ted when your daughters are conscripted to work in the embryo farms. When the Cylons come we’ll have already been conquered, by ourselves.
Sure, it’s a holocaust, if you consider a blastocyst (which consists of a few dozen cells, which has no brain, no nervous system, no ability to think or suffer or feel pain, etc.) to have *exactly the same * moral status as a full-grown human being. However, I don’t see how anyone can rationally defend the idea that the blastocyst has this status. Given your OP, arguing is clearly not your strong point, so I don’t expect you to convince me. You got any arguments to the contrary? If so, bring them. If not, STFU.
Do you have nothing better to do with your time than to pit random celebrities? Jesus, get a hobby that doesn’t involve shitting up a decent message board. Fuckwit.
A cannibal is someone who eats other human beings. Mr. Fox is advocating medical research that, as far as I know, does not involve eating people.
The stem cells in question, that Michael J Fox is advocating the use of, is not “genocide”. It’s not murder.
The research in question works thusly: A couple goes in for in-vitro fertilization. In this, they take the man’s sperm and a whole bunch of the woman’s eggs. They put them in petri dishes, and let nature do its thing in a slightly more controlled environment. Then, once they have a fertilized egg or 12, they implant a number of them in the woman’s uterus, and hope that at least one of them implants properly, resulting in a baby.
When they do this, they need to fertilize far more eggs than will be used. Why? I have no idea, but I’m certain it has something to do with “the limits of modern science”. They implant some. The rest of them? They’re thrown out. Literally. I’m not a doctor, but I’m assuming those petri dishes are tossed in a medical waste sack and hauled down to an incinerator.
That is a waste of “life”. It’s a waste of materials, it’s selfish, and it’s stupid. In my opinion, no one who’s not a sociopath can justify not using such a valuable resource to not just improve lives, but save them.
Here. Try reading something slightly more intelligent than “WorldNetDaily”, which I’m certain is a world-renowned news organization which I have been curiously ignorant of up until now. This site will give you a (gasp) unbiased look at the issue.
(added on preview) “Give them up for adoption”? What the fuck? That honest to god is the most jelly-brained thing I’ve heard in a stem-cell argument. These are not cute little kids. They’re not preemie babies. Listen closely now: These are clumps of MAYBE a few dozen cells! They’re invisible to the naked eye. You could try, surrogate parents do occasionally have IVF with another couple’s fertilized egg, but know what very often happens? The surrogate’s immune system kills your precious little cells.
