A. I’ve read the deposition from the first case. Sounds quite realistic to me (I’ve worked w/offenders for 25 years, have lots of experience w/child molesters and their victims).

B. Jacksons’ statements, IMHO, (see above for background) sound exactly like those CM’s that I’ve talked to who have yet to realize that what they did is wrong. Note stress on “I would never hurt a child” and “I love children” . In their eyes in active predatory vein, IME, they believe that what they’re doing is ‘allowing the child to demonstrate their love for me, and that’s a positive thing, it wouldn’t hurt them’. etc.

C. A sane and rational person who was innocent of such a charge would insure that forever and ever, there wouldn’t be any ghost of a chance that anyone would ever be in a position again to make such an accusation. They would absolutely refuse to be alone w/a child, any child. Instead, Mr. Jackson has created a veritable heaven for children at his home, amusement rides, exotic animals, all the high tech toys one could imagine, and insures that many children come there, and stay for long periods of time.

I will not proclaim “guilt” until after a trial etc, however, in the meantime, I have no problem :

A. absolutely refusing to allow him access to children unsupervised.

B. being totally prepared to have evidence supporting the charge.

Please do not pretend that our system of ‘presumed innocent’ actually means that the person is factually innocent until it’s proven in court, or should prevent us from forming our own opinions of what’s more likely unless we’re personally sitting on the jury I have no problem having discussions w/people about current newsy type criminal cases, have no problems forming opinions of what I think is likely to be both true and probable court results (which may or may not agree). yes, we don’t ‘know’ for certain.

Possabilities include:

  1. He’s factually innocent and is found innocent by the courts.

  2. He’s factually innocent and is found guilty by the courts.

  3. He’s factually guilty and is found innocent by the courts.

  4. He’s factually guilty and is found guilty by the courts.

I’m banking on #'s 3 or 4 being more likley, won’t be certain between the two til I hear more. Of course, I could be wrong. :smiley:

On the bright side for Jackson, at least his nose appears to be intact once again.

I guess he posted bail now, but I REALLY want to find out what exactly is going on with his children… . . Anyone know if being accused in this manner means he has to stop contact with his kids or anything?

When I was in LA, I made a point of stepping on Jackson’s star down by the Mann’s Chinese Theater. Some Japanese girls that were paying homage, or whatever, looked sternly and said angry – albeit incomprensible to me – things. I feel vindicated.

It’s ironic actually. In 1982 when Michael Jackson was starting to become kind of “big time” I recall chatting about the syndrome of “star worshipping” with the father of my then girlfriend. He was a real cool guy was the father - he used to be a ship’s captain on Oil Tankers and container ships etc.

Anyways, we were talking about the death of John Lennon and various things and the father opined (in regards to Michael Jackson) “I don’t think he’ll make old bones myself…”

Naturally, I asked him what he meant and his reply was stunningly prescient with hindsight…

“There’s something very odd about that guy. He’s not normal. And he’s way too famous to cope with all that fame. Something will happen someday. Some mad man will shoot him, or more likely, he’ll end up in a scene which seals his fate… but mark my words… he won’t grow to be an old man… I’ve seen his kind all my life and their fates are sealed real early…”

Now this was 1982 and even before Thriller and even before his first bit of surgery.

My prediction? If he ends up in jail and not in the protection of permanent isolation? He’s a dead man.

If convicted he will never see general population. He’ll either be in isolation (probably making him even more insane) or he’ll be incarcerated in one of the “special population” wings like Charlie Manson is in.

I had the joy of reading through some seminar material today froma sexual misconduct seminar. The article was by a forensic psychologist/pedophelia profiler. He has this checklist of characteristics found in pedophiles.

As DtC mentioned they include, filling their house w/ games and toys, having a childlike demeanor, abstaining from ‘real’ relationships with the opposite sex–if there is a marriage it is usually to a child-like submissive wife, being around children as much as possible, only ‘real’ friendships are with children, trying to get the children in compromising positions such as sleep-overs when there will be clothes changing, describing children as pure and innocent.

Anyone who doesn’t believe that he is a pedophile, should think about that settlement which was supposed to be over 10 million dollars, folks, that ain’t nuisance value even for the king of pop.

FWIW, if true (yeah whatever) MJ is a pedophile, not a child molester. There is a difference. A pedophile sexualizes young children and is primarily attracted them. A child molester is not primarily attracted to children but for whatever reason chooses to harm a child.

You do know about morphing and fades right? His face reminded me of the final scene in Psycho were Alfred Hitchcock put a few frames of a skull over the face of Norman Bates. Jackson’s face looks like it is morphing to the skull!

I could only stomach half an hour of the news, in other tread we were discussing if this was going to beat the Middle East news, it was not even close, the title of “media whores” to the mainstream media in the US is well deserved.

In addition, Court TV had also Uri Geller!!! At least they titled him Jackson’s friend, and not a Psychic! “But I believe he could not harm a child!!”, no you twit! The point IMO is that if he is so innocent and if you “are” a special friend with “powers” you should have helped him before this business hitted the fan.

He’s so fucking out of it. I had that SOMETHING was going to happen after watching the Bashir thing. He was so deluded and telling outrageous lies that were so OBVIOUS. Like that his father has blue eyes, or that he’s never had any plastic surgery, blah blah blah.

He needs to be put in a straight jacket and evaluated. He’s so scary.

I wonder if the victim is that kid, Gavin? OUCH!

And yeah, the parents are messed up. The only explanation I can give is that the kid was a fan and dying, and Michael swooped in, paid for his treatment, overwhelmed the family, and they were just taken in by him. Not that that excuses it. I wouldn’t let Michael look after my cats.

What a nice and easy way for some parents to a a load of dough. MJ is an easy target. There isn’t a comedian that doesn’t do a joke about MJ and children, heck, the latest scary movie has a scene about it. This sounds like a setup to me.

Well, this is a rare day - I have to agree with ** Diogenes ** - Jackson shows all of the classic signs of being a pedophile. ** EasyPhil, ** people wouldn’t make jokes about MJ and children if he wasn’t doing all sorts of weird, creepy things - like sleeping with young, as MJ himself has admitted to, as well as turning his ranch into a children’s “playland.”

I find myself wondering if this will be the first time in his entire 45-ish years when he alone has to take responsibility, where lawyers or record companies or money can’t make the bad people go away; he just never *had to *grow up, so he didn’t - but it was his choice.

Then I think, is he going to able to cope with being woken from this delusional fantasy-denial world where he means well and no one understands him?

I dunno, he’s just so transparently unwell I find it hard to feel anything but relief this dreadful situation might finally be over.

And given Jackson’s histroy, I’m more than a little curious about the motives of this kids parents . . . this whole thing is one ugly business.

I’ve had a thought about Bashir: see, before the MJ documentary, all of Bashir’s interviews were hagiographies. Gentle and only very slightly probing, allowing the subject to find their own voice - the effect of which was to make the subject appear oh-so-very special.

I am starting to think the reason Bashir stitched him up was because MJ’s behaviour weirded Bashir out so much that he felt he had to blow the whistle on it.

I know this is the pit an’ all but I have a question.

With the media coverage and various articles saying similar things to the points in this thread is it not possible that his lawyers will argue that he can’t possibly get a fair trial ? On a similar point, would the previous charges (the settled ones) be admisable in court, and if not doesn’t then can’t they argue that the case is already biased.

I don’t have much opinion on his guilt/innocence, but I do think both him and the parents involved were morons to let the sort of situation arise where the allogations could be levelled.

I don’t know. Could you find him innocent under any circumstances? Are you predisposed to voting “guilty.” Not that I WANT to hear the evidence, but I want to hear the evidence before I convict anyone.

The whole pedophile profile MO thing is pretty damning. I can tell you using my psychic legal powers that Jackson needs a better expert witness than Uri Gellar or Liz Taylor.

Take a look at the article from This is London, linked above. Not only did the family already get a load of dough, they defended him after the Bashir interview! Seems that they were on Jacko’s side until the boy started being teased at school.
