This has little to do with this thread, but seems like the place to ask…
Did Michal Jackson ever attempt to have a law passed which would insist on mandatory hugs at bedtime for children from their parents?
I have this obscure fact in my head and can’t think where it may have come from.
So, did this actually happen, or did I dream it?
Yeah, something along those lines. I’m logging off, so can’t do a search, but I remember him proposing some kind of “Kids’ Bill of Rights”.
What, I can’t make an off the cuff comment that an entertainment site agrees with Baboon without being accused of doing something improper?

Ok, I found the text about what I was asking, as reported here. (no mention of mandatory hugs though)
I would therefore like to propose tonight that we instal in every home a Children’s Universal Bill of Rights, the tenets of which are:
The right to be loved, without having to earn it
The right to be protected, without having to deserve it
The right to feel valuable, even if you came into the world with nothing
The right to be listened to without having to be interesting
The right to be read a bedtime story without having to compete with the evening news or EastEnders
The right to an education without having to dodge bullets at schools
The right to be thought of as adorable (even if you have a face that only a mother could love).
As long as somebody bumped this anyway…
From the speech:
I am humbled to be lecturing in a place that has previously been filled by such notable figures as Mother Theresa, Albert Einstein, Ronald Reagan, Robert Kennedy and Malcolm X.
I’ve even heard that Kermit the Frog has made an appearance here, and I’ve always felt a kinship with Kermit’s message that it’s not easy being green.
Right, but Kermie lived with the fact that he was green.

DDG I suspect that you misinterpreted - his oddness, I believe, is previewing for us, his next incarnation/transformation

(now that cleo is gone, there is a vacancy waiting to be filled you know!)
Well, it looked at lot to me like you were not-so-subtlely accusing Bad News Baboon of lifting that line and using it here. I just don’t really see the point of your post otherwise. But if that’s not the case, I owe you an apology.
Actually, I had a few different ways to go with that post and couldn’t decide which to use so I kept it brief. Perhaps too brief.
Thanks for the apology.
And I’m glad that BNB took it in the way I intended.
all is cool.
thanks for having my back, Troy McClure SF.
When I hit the big time with my fortune scam, er, business, I will make you one of my posse.
