Tell you what Waverly, you can keep the pitchfork. Just dont light the torch yet
What else has he done that makes you think he’s not a fit father?
Until someone is proven guilty in a court of law, they are innocent of all charges.
Michael paid off the families in an out of court settlement because if he had gone to trial, his reputation would have been destroyed permanently. It certainly did take a battering anyway, but not as much as it would have if the media had had the field day it was clamering for.
The strange thing is, as soon as the allegations made the news, everyone seemed to proclaim him guilty because he didn’t conform to society’s norms for stardom.
I havent seen anything that might suggest that he won’t love and care for those children any less than you or I would care for ours.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m no fan of Michael’s, but I think the witchhunt that seems to arise anytime his name is mentioned gets fanatical way too quickly.
If you’re saying it’s more likely he paid them off not because he was guilty and wanted a settlement but because he just wanted to avoid the bad press, I have to disagree. His rep suffered mightly through that whole ordeal even without a trial. Had the trial gone through and he was proven innocent, his reputation would still have been sullied. Had it gone through and he was found guilty, then he’d REALLY have trouble. And that’s more likely what he wanted to avoid - not the bad press, which he’s been getting for years and years, but the potentially bad outcome of a trial.
True enough Dan. I don’t profess to know the exact reasoning behind him paying off the family.
But you do have to remember that Michael created Neverland as his fantasy world away from the rest of the world. Its possible that he was suficciently scared of the imminent intrusion into it that he could live with the allegations. His privacy may be more important to him than public opinion.
A good case in point is that of Fatty Arbuckle. He was always remembered as a rapist even though he was found innocent in a court of law. Mud sticks.
Mr. Singular has it, too. He tried the chemo-light therapy route for a year and did nothing but fry his skin. Now he’s my little pinto pony. I believe that Jackson has it-that would explain the one glove and the random bandages on his hands. When vitiligo starts, it hits in little splotches, and then spreads. It probably started on his hands, and he tried to cover it before just giving up and bleaching. My husband developed it a few years after MJ did-the dermatologist even said that the bleach treatment he suggested was the same one MJ uses.
So I’ll buy the white skin. Everything else proves he’s not right for this planet.
The baby-on-the-balcony incident is certainly not sufficient grounds to take away the children. But it does show a very reckless act regarding the safety of the child, and the man is quite clearly mentally unstable. Given the illness, the baby dangling, and the past allegations of child abuse, there is arguably sufficient evidence for child protective services to begin an investigation. Children are not taken away from their parents lightly, but when facts arise that call into question the fitness of the parent or the safety of the child, the state can and should take steps to determine whether such action is appropriate.
Oh yeah, no question. If he gave a real crap about public opinion, he wouldn’t act so bizarre when he was out in public. No one can know his motivations for anything, considering that wish for privacy he has. So when he acts bizzarely, we can only speculate on the reason. Why would he dangle his kid over a balcony? For kicks? To show he’s a playful dad? Heck if I know. (Hey, I don’t even know if it was his kid .)
Proof positive that he’s a nutcase. Just before he dangled the baby…
He threw them a towel? Have to hide this in a spoiler box, as probably not that many people in this thread have seen Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets yet.
You’re questioning his parenting skills?!? The man came from frickin’ Joe Jackson. That’s like having Satan as a parent. That’s like learning childcare from Pol Pot.
All this talk of invading Neverland, what really should be done is find good ol’ Joe and kick the cowboy shit out of him until he goes and puts himself and Mike into counseling. On a deserted island. With no cameras. And no boats. And hungry sharks in the water.
And Tony Soprano just offshore in the Stugatz.
Then I’d like to go and slap the taste out of anyone’s mouth who bought Off the Wall and gave the nutball all that money in the first place.
The first thing I noticed about the footage, and I’m not sure that this has been mentioned, but did anyone see his child’s legs and feet hit against the metal railing of the balcony?
He made no attempt to be gentle when leaning his child over the balcony, and again no attempt to be gentle when bringing his child back over again.
I would think those little kind of knocks would be quite painful for his child, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it left some bruising as well.
Can the man be truly happy in life with the way things have turned out for him? Money definitely doesn’t buy happiness. Maybe suicide would be a good option for him, better that than having to look at himself in the mirror everyday for the rest of his life.
I’ll tell you a scary though, Michael Jackson at 70. I personally do not want to see that.
It will be very interesting to see how his children turn out. I think they’ll be even more bizarre then him. It would be pretty funny if the started off white, and tried to go back to black. We’ll know the answer in about 20 years.
