Michael Moore at the RNC

And apparently lost on you as well.

:wally

I think its suprising that one filmmaker is seen as such a big threat to the Republicans. A passing comment from McCain is one thing, but to be surrounded by SS and booed by the entire crowd.
They’re letting one guy be such a big threat to them. They’ve thwarted the mass media but one independant if the worst thing since anthrax?

But people might believe him, Wearia. They might get swayed from the vision of ooey-gooey republicon goodness, and that simply cannot be. Dissenters are evil and must therefore be destroyed.

I think Moore’s work is a little biased and uneven, but he’s a marketing genius. Letting the Republican party do his marketing was a stroke of brilliance.

I heard about this. Can someone give a more detailed description of what exactly happened?

From what I’m given to understand, Moore was being interviewed when Secret Service people shoved him off to the side, saying something about there being too many people and it was a safety issue. Apparently this was peculiar because the majority of the people present at the time were Secret Service, so if there were really too many people there it would have made sense for them to clear themselves out of the area. I heard they wouldn’t let anyone talk to him after that.

Fear is the mindkiller, and those people were apparently brain-dead.

“L” for loser. Four more months. You gotta love it, despite that fact that Moore seems to be a really obnoxious person. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems to me that his only reason for wanting to be there would be to stir up shit. If he did that here, he would be called a troll.

This will surely show up in his next film. Sometimes I think falling on one’s sword is the national political pastime.

Here’s some press:

No doubt that’s why he’s cracking up with all the attention. The last thing he wants the Republicans to do is stop talking about him. If I were him, I’d sure be amused that my enemies apparently still haven’t figured out that their obsession is good for me.

Do you distinguish between protest and stirring up shit? This isn’t an attack, I’m just curious.

It’s my understanding McCain has gone on record sayng he hasn’t seen the film.

:smack: :smack: :smack:

Wouldn’t it be more like watching Karen Carpenter cry about starving people?

Where can I stream a video?! I have always seen him as obnoxious as a person and can’t say anything for his film making since I haven’t seen any of his films but this is just too good! For any side, I do not care which side you are on, this just sounds brilliant. To have the most popular icon of the enemy at your organization’s national conference and then to have that iconpointed out by both the crowd and speech maker , and have them respond as was described. I must see it!

Here’s a RealPlayer stream. (Couldn’t find anything better.)

The Republican convention is a stage-managed jamboree, a triumph of style over substance, where even apparently spontaneous moments are scripted. Statistics are used selectively to manipulate the massive media audience. It’s a sham.

Michael Moore is in his element.

Actually listening to the interviews after the opening clip is a pisser.

Larry Mudd mentioned that Moore was doing commentary for USA Today – I traveled for my work today, the only time I read USA Today – what luck. Moore’s piece today in The Forum (aka Crashing the Party ) was his explanation of how the Republican Party is full of RINOs, Republican In Name Onlys. Fun article…made me smile. Also made me realize that the old saw which goes something like “Democrats fall in love; Republicans fall in line” is too close to true. There may be RINOs out there but they are in NYC toeing the party line this week. We have work to do.

<aside> What the hey? There is grown man on TV now wearing an elephant trunk for a nose. And the world is watching  <aside>

I promise to learn how to post articles better when I have time – hope this works here :o

gatopescado:

Oh please, he’s collecting material for his next film.

Thanks for adding this. I saw the incident last night (still have it on my Tivo), so didn’t think about clicking on a link of it, untill you added this. Oh. My. God. Those women will be really unhappy when they realize how they’ve been duped. If they ever pull their heads out of the sand, that is.

Moore’s next film will be about health care.

As one who has just learned how to do this, here’s how.

  1. Copy the URL.
  2. Click ‘Reply’.
  3. Click the ‘Insert Hyperlink’ icon (that’s the blue globe thingie fourth from the right).
  4. In the ‘Script prompt’ dialogue box, enter the words you want to appear in your post to direct folk to the link (e.g. “Here’s Moore’s report”).
  5. In the next dialogue box that pops up, paste the URL.

He’s neither “trolling” or collecting material. USA Today sent him to the RNC for commentary. Incidently, USA Today asked Ann Coulter to cover the DNC, but I believe that didn’t go so well…
