Michael Moore just posted a picture of Trayvon Martin's dead body

Ok, well the way you worded it was ordering her to support them or withdraw them now. Thats good to hear you didnt mean it how it sounded.

I, like the NEN dispatcher Zimmerman spoke to, have no power to order anyone here to do anything, so any appearance that I’m doing so is an obvious misinterpretation.

The responses in this thread are an eye opener. I was at first upset with Moore for not giving me fair warning as I clicked the link, but in hindsight, I would not have opened it if I was warned. so I saw it, and now what to do? Brush it off until the next kid gets killed? Make jokes because death is just something that happens?

Treyvon was just a kid. A kid who had every right to live and breathe in this world as I do. Even if he were a menace which I am not at all convinced he was, there’s got to be a better way to deal with it than hiding behind a dumb law.

…as did the mother of Sandy Hook murder victim Noah Pozner. From the news report:

I grew up in a house with guns. Two guns, to be precise - my father’s official police department revolver and the snub-nosed one that he carried off-duty. That was it. No rifles, no other guns. It was a tool that was required for his work. I just do not understand the mindset of people who want to own those things if they do not have a job that requires it.

I read online today that the new craze among the young and clueless is Trayvoning. They are posing themselves and taking pictures. (Don’t care to get any more graphic than that.)

Someone needs to take them aside and talk about the seriousness of a young man’s death and the proper use of social media. Ick.

And, for crying out loud, Honesty, stop reading That Racist Site Which Will Not Be Named before your mind is as sick and twisted as the folks who post there. It’s not doing your mental health a lick of good.

Why do you want to alienate people who may disagree with you but have no animosity? In fact, consider that, since this is a board that fights ignorance. Just because people don’t see things the way you do does not mean they want to hurt you.

so your instructor told you to shoot the person where? I was taught to group a series of shots in the center mass of the target. Now unless I misunderstood, the intent was to INSURE you stopped the person. You describe it in whatever way makes you feel better but shooting in the center mass is going to stop them morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, absolutely, undeniably and reliably dead.

I was taught to aim for center of mass and shoot until the threat was stopped. That may be one shot (as with GZ) or it may be several (as I’ve said I probably would have done in his spot.)

But even with a .40S&W and hollow points, unless you hit the heart or CNS, death isn’t guaranteed. Hell, even if you do hit the heart, death isn’t guaranteed (see Trace Adkins.)

How many times was 50 Cent shot?

(And, realistically, I’m pretty sure the instructor’s point was that, if it came down to it, what we needed to tell the police and jury is “I shot to stop the threat” rather than “I shot to kill.”)

well the problem here is that it’s not about a kid that got killed. Read the Sunday addition of any Chicago Newspaper and count them if you have the time and a calculator. This is about a black kid shot by a white/Hispanic/fill-in-the-blank man. Otherwise it would be business as usual.

While it’s true that Trayvon was a kid that does not excuse him from his actions. He wasn’t a 12 year old on his way to Disney and this wasn’t a fight. It was an assault. It appears from the evidence that he started it. It might have happened another way but that’s what the evidence shows. Had Zimmerman NOT had a gun on him then there would be no struggle for it and Zimmerman would probably have survived long enough for Martin to be arrested and put away. But that’s not what happened. He had the legal right to shoot Martin after the punch in the nose. That didn’t happen. What we’re left with is a beating that lasted well over 38 seconds. There is no evidence that justifies Martin’s actions. There IS evidence that justifies Zimmerman’s actions.

I suspect the photo is a fake. No blood anywhere.

This is how I took the instructions.

I suspect the gunshot surprised Zimmerman more than anyone can imagine. He SHOULD have grouped a couple of more shots as a matter of training. Realistically, there isn’t enough time to take an assessment after each round and rote training should have caused more rounds. but having a gun go off point blank without hearing protection is going to startle a person.

I see what you did there.

well I thought that too but seriously, where’s the blood? We know by the coroner’s report that his heart kept beating and the police did CPR on him. Shouldn’t that have made a large stain on his clothes?

You’re right, and some people make jokes in a “whistling past the graveyard” way. I am just so sad and disgusted and disappointed about this case.

Dude, gravity. Blood doesn’t flow upward, and unless the entry wound was gaping any bleed out from the heart would have been contained in the chest cavity when the body was face down.

TV and movies take a huge amount of artistic license with regard to wounds and blood flow.

Then there’s the pixels.

Notice that you can’t see the bullet hole? It’s under the photo button, that’s why.

Let’s hope the jury has the neurons to see the importance of this detail.

Why is that important to the jury?

ETA: Apologies if my neurons are lacking.

I am sickened by this thread, frankly.

If you’re in the middle of a fight with someone what is the odds that you will deliver a perfect front-to-back shot, square into the heart, in an area that is blocked by a photo button? The odds are damn nill.

It is evidence that Zimmerman went out of his way to take the kid’s life, not save his own.

In other news, the jury paused its deliberations this afternoon to ask the judge a question about manslaughter.

Yeah, well, that’s like…your opinion, man.
