Yes, he probably is a specialist in multiple births if he’s a specialist in high risk pregnancies. That does not mean that the Duggars are planning on using medical means of increasing their fertility. She’s old enough and has had enough issues that any pregnancy would likely be a high risk pregnancy. A doctor that specializes in high risk pregnancy would be a good place for her to go if she thought there were any chance she may still be fertile.
So you agree that a doctor with a specialty in multiple births + clomiphene therpay = fertility doctor, then?
I think the harm is having so many kids that the child care is assigned to the older kids ASAP, rather than allowing the kids time to pursue more studies or hobbies or just be kids. There isn’t neglect solely because those older girls are forced into being semi-foster-moms for their own younger siblings. Plus the Duggars provide for their kids by making them be on a “reality” TV show without being able to obtain meaningful informed consent from them. (And yes, I have similar complaints about other shows.) And there’s something icky about watching those girls grow up with no prospects other than being a human version of a brood mare and hoping to “catch a baby” as often as possible to please their man.
I’ve been watching the show for years and I agree with this. And I do think Michelle has a slight fixation on babies and infants as opposed to her older kids. I wouldn’t go so far as to say she neglects the older kids, but she is definitely not as interested and leaves a lot of their care to the oldest girls. Of course lately they’ve been showing scenes of her doing stuff with the older kids as a response to that criticism. With 19 kids, 3 grandkids and countless more grandkids to come, it looks pretty ridiculous for them to be hoping for more.
My grandmother was one of 13 kids. She was #12 in the birth order, born in 1902. The oldest sibling was 25 years her senior. She always told me as did her sisters nearest in age to her that the older siblings resented the younger kids at times because they - the older kids - were raising the younger kids along with any kids they had of their own.
I can’t help but think that the older Duggar kids have some resentment.
