I know she said “No.”, I heard her say it. Beseech, implore, rinse, repeat. Not saying it always works, just saying it works better than waiting. Now, for myself, I am a democratic egalitarian, I am suspicious of “leaders”, favoring the wisdom of collective compromise. But these are the times that fry men’s souls.

There’s no chance of this. There’s not going to be some savior – it’s going to be one of the candidates currently in the race. Pick one, donate, volunteer, and vote.

A Michelle candidacy makes sense only in the context of a hopelessly-split Convention and the D Party coming to its senses. The former eventuality may have increasing probability, but I’d rank the latter as very unlikely.
In the fantasy, I think she might get very broad support from Ds, especially if she promises to bring First Hubby along when trouble is brewing in the Situation Room. In the General Election, I’m not so confident. Are there many Trumpists eager to jump off their tree and vote for her, the complete opposite in so many ways of the racist Buffoon-in-Chief?
Here’s what should be done, but won’t be because Democrats are weak: A rumor should start that she’s gonna run. Celebs and news programs should talk about it. Have a few polls done that include her name. She should hold a generic, non-specific press conference, where she declines to talk about whether or not she’s gonna run and instead hints at exciting news she’ll have for everyone “just around the corner; in a few weeks time” and then shut up and let Trump and his minions start spewing shit.
After they’ve damaged themselves, she can announce a new children’s book or a movie or some other project that is “rah-rah America”-ish innocuous and pretend to ignore all the speculation.

The idea would be essentially to give, in effect, one of the best and most respected Americans of this century — Barack H. Obama — a third term. A work-around for the two-term limit.
Before crying that that would be “fudging the rules,” relax and take a long deep breath. Then tell us: Has the Party of Greed and Hatred been fudging any rules?
Yeah, that would bother me. If sordid nepotism was what it took to sweep the swamp swine out of power, maybe I could live with that. Be kinda tough, but I might be able to handle that.
