Michigan Dopapalooza

Wow. I was just thinking about this thread today.

We’re going to be needing a rough head count soon, because of the Friday night plans. We’re gonna have to make reservations. You can send an email to flintdope@hotmail.com, to let us know. If you’re not sure, email anyway. Better to reserve for too many than not enough!

If beer requests are being taken, I’m a big fan of Red Stripe. This sounds like it’s gonna be one helluva party!

Y’all took the weekend I was looking at for OhDope. Seems you usurped me back in December, too. Well, just for that, I’ll show up to your little shin-dig in June, but I expect some of you to show at the next Ohio DopeFest, which now will probably be in July.

Have it the weekend after July 24th and we can celebrate my 21st birthday!

No wait, I’m already 21. Yeah. That’s the ticket. 'Cause if I wasn’t 21, I wouldn’t be drinking those Red Stripes, now would I? No, I would not.

if you’re counting, I may participate, but won’t need accomodations (as in no hotel etc.).

I’m still planning on being there, but, like wring, I should be able to fend for myself.

Juniper: The fact is, you are not supposed to know what beer is until you reach 21. And I think “Red Stripe” sounds like it must be similar to Faygo Red Pop. So, given that you know Red Stripe exists, it must not be beer, nor alcoholic, ergo it is OK if you wind up drunk in the bed of my pickup…

Wait, that came out wrong.

I’m thinking about it. No idea if I’ll be able to make it. Probably not, but we’ll see.

And which of us is bringing the jet fuel, thinks?

And, as I’m a putz and forgot to mention it, I would need accomodations of some sort, whether they be in someones home or in a hotel…

Dyno, I’ve already got a spare bottle, just waiting for company. I’m another one of the folks that’ll be needing a couch or soft landing spot up there.

Okay, as Xploder has already heard, I may or may not be able to make this…put me down as a maybe for now. I’d also need somewhere to crash.

Well, I live outside Detroit…Farmington Hills to be exact. I don’t know how far away Flint is, but I’d love to come and meet some fellow Dopers. It depends on if the 'rents allow it. (I’m 17, BTW)…but i’ll see…

Kaz? you’re from Faaaaaahmington Hills? Then you must know my brother - he drives a Lexus, his wife drives a mini van?

Flint is up I-75 from you, not real far (can’t remember how far, frankly). Of course, from my memory, growing up around Oakland County, travel outside the boundaries (roughly 15 miles) was seriously frowned upon by 'rents.

maybe things have changed there, tho’ ?

Kaz: Flint is maaaaaaaybe an hour’s drive, tops. My brother used to live in Farmington Hills.

Come on up, if the parents will let you. Or bring the parents. We’re easy. But just remember–no alcohol for you! Or I’ll call your parents my (probably drunken) self.

wring: you have absolutly no idea how true that is!

My parents shouldn’t mind Flint, a lotta my friends live in Lake Orion, and we’ve driven to Mt. Holly and the Ren Fest in Holly a coupletimes, and they havn’t minded, and I don’t believe that Flint is that much farther, correct?

What’s the schedual of events over the weekend gonna be like? I can probably come up for one day, but I don’t think my parents would like me spending the night. So maybe Saturday I could come up. Do we have a semi-outline of a schedual of whats up?

Kaz??? A. I was a teenager (born to the worlds most conservative parents) in Oakland Co at one time and B. I’m the parent of a teen currently (he’ll be 17 in May if I let him live that long  ) (are you male? female? my guy’s 6’1" a swimmer, and may be grounded -again- by that time)

Kaz: Coming up Saturday is probably a good idea. We’ve got semi-firm plans to go out to a restaurant/bar Friday night. There’s no age limit on this place, though (because it’s a restaurant too–and a darn good one), but I’m not sure if you’d want to drive up, then drive home, then drive back the next day (that’s for us silly adults to do :D). But as I said, if you want to bring your parents along, feel free–unless they cramp your style, of course. You know we parents just live to make our children look bad.

you forgot - we also loooove to embarrass our kids, too. I live for those moments.

I am a male (also 'bout 6’1, not a swimmer though). I think I will try and make it up on saturday, and parentless. You’re both definatly on te right track, they cramp my style unbearably, and embarass te hell outta me too. Oh well. But yeah I’ll hope to see you all on Saturday, June 24, right? I’m lookin forward to it!

looking forward to it, Kaz (tho’ #1 son will be disappointed you’re not female - no guarentees on his participation).

Still planning on coming up on Saturday. Friday is iffy for me however, because it will depend on what time Strainger’s plane gets in. As far as I know, he’s still planning on coming. He’ll be bunking at our house.

I wish I could offer couch space, but I’m not sure how many strange men my husband will let me have in the house at one time! But, he said as long as I clean up after them and make sure I feed them everyday, I could keep them…kidding…just kidding!
