wring, xploder has not one, but TWO teenage daughters, and I believe that they will be in attendance, but don’t quote me. They come with all the accoutrements that teenagers have, too, like CD’s and video games. 
but Persephone you forget the most important thing. xploder, the father of said two teenaged girls, is a member of the SDMB. as such, he’s heard way too much about my young son to feel at all comfortable about allowing them in the same city, let alone, same yard!
(seriously, will tell him, see if I can’t get him to join in - he is a fun guy)
Xploder’s daughters are young teenagers, only 13 or 14, IIRC. A little young for Kaz and Wring’s youngun’ However, I just happen to have a 13-year-old son who would be more than willing to corrupt…err, I mean hang out with his daughters.
One of the girls is 13, the other is 15. So yes, they’re a little young, but I thought maybe Son O’ Wring might be amused by their teenager-stuff, like the CD’s and video games & stuff. I think they’ve got their own computer too…but again, don’t quote me.
Oh and wring? xploder will be okay with your son. Xploder is a big guy, and a Gulf War vet to boot. One of those “scary dads,” you know?

Just spoke to xploder. He was on his way out the door, but he’ll be in here later. He did ask me to tell everyone that he’s got the directions to his house, and would like anyone that either will be/might be/wants to be but not sure yet to send an email to flintdope@hotmail.com, so he can mass email the directions.
Also, if you’d like to bring a dish to pass to Saturday’s festivities, feel free. It is absolutely NOT a requirement, however! Oh, and if you play a musical instrument (ANY musical instrument!), feel free to bring that along too.

son-o-wring would be most pleasant to even younger teens (he’s really quite good with his younger cousins), and does have some socially redeeming qualities (he’s been employed for nearly 2 years for example, is smart etc.)

Looks like I have to explain things yet again here…Two daughters. One 13 and one 15. Both, of course, socially unacceptable in my eyes. Then again, my Mom said the same thing about me.
Be forewarned though…Xploder is a very conservative Dad when it come to his daughters. I tend to carry a very large club.
Bring whatever ya want to the shindig. The hotter the spices the better.

I’m thinking of bringing my oldest son with me. It all depends on whether or not I will allow him out of the house this summer at all. At the rate he is going, he may be grounded until he is 21. Of course, he does tend to behave much better in public than he ever does at home.

Attendees, help! Strainger is flying in Friday the 22nd to Detroit from Phoenix to attend the Dope (you know, those single rich guys have nothing better to do with their money than jet around! 
). He’s got a place to stay (with me and hubby), HOWEVER I have to work and there’s no chance of me getting off to pick him up when his plane gets in (probably around 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.).
Would somebody be able and willing to heist him from the airport and amuse him until we can pick him up? You know, kind of like baby-sitting but for someone fun? (Just kidding, Strain! :D) I get off work at 5:00 and I’m willing to meet you just about anywhere.
Any takers? Please?! Let’s show him some Michigander hospitality!

Thanks, BunnyGirl! I’m scheduled to arrive on Northworst Airlines at 12:59PM, so my plane should be rolling into the gate between 1:45 and 2:00, if I’m lucky. It doesn’t have to be just Michigan Dopers. If any other out-of-towners are arriving around that time and want to share a cab or shuttle to go to Greek town for some flaming cheese (I don’t blow out the flaming cheese; I eat it while it’s still on fire, because I’m the shit) or something like that, let’s do so!

Is there anybody responding in this thread who actually lives anywhere near the airport? I live about an hour away, so I could possibly do it. Which day are you coming in town, Friday or Saturday?
Xploder and I live slightly less than an hour away from Detroit Metro (well, it’s about an hour if I’m driving. Bill, on the other hand, can get us there in oh, I’d say 20 minutes, tops). :eek:
How is it possible that you can drive from Flint to Romulus in under an hour? Flint is an hour and a half north from my house, and Romulus is an hour south of my house. Whatever supersonic warp-drive engine you must have in your car, I want one too!
