Is there a way to keep Microsoft games, such as Mechwarrior 4, from starting when I insert the C.D. I have the option for the cd-rom to not start automatically set, but seems that any game made by Microsoft starts on its own anyway. Not a big deal, but it is annoying.
Coordinate the times that you want to play MW4 with the times that you insert the MW4 disk and hopefully that should alleviate your troubles.
Gee, thanks. I just want to know because sometimes I forget to insert the c.d. when playing online and when I put it in it it automatically starts, interupting the pre-game chat.
Try holding down the left shift key when you put the cd in the drive. That should keep it from auto running.
Thanks toaster, I have tried that before but it seems like I did something like alt+shift, anyways just shift works, thanks again
You can also download TweakUI from Microsoft - it allows you to permanently disable this “Autorun” feature, along with lots of other cool stuff that should have been included in the OS.
If you go to the device manager and look at the properties of your CD, you can disable auto insert notification. Does the same thing.
