Microsoft Outlook's Journal feature

I’m trying to get my office using the Journal feature of Microsoft’s Outlook. To that end I’m trying to find a book that goes as deeply as possible into Outlook, especially Journal. Browsing around Amazon, I can’t find any book that specifically mentions Journal, though a lot of them specifically mention other aspects of Outlook. Some of the better-looking books have low customer ratings; some of the highest-rated ones don’t really seem to be what I need.

Can anyone recommend a good source for deep and detailed information about Outlook/Journal?

Caveat: the office I’m working at is small and young, and everyone’s still on 2000.

I’m not trying to be a jerk when I say this, but have you read the “fabulous” (Outlook) Manual?

Okay, well, there isn’t a manual per se, but you can check this out…

Good Luck

Here’s a link to a PDF on QUE Publishing’s website to a chapter on Outlook’s Journal, presumably from a book they have published. No more info for you though.

Keep in mind that Journal was such a “useful” feature that MS dropped it in Outlook XP or 2003. I know you said you’re using 2000, but I think that if the feature was that good, they wouldn’t have dropped it.

I’ve also seen Journal cause issues with Exchange servers. Sometimes Journal would get turned on by accident and take up more and more space in their Exchange mailbox. This could end up being an issue if you don’t have lots of free disk space on your Exchange server (or your clients, if you’re using POP3).
