Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game, the Game itself

Ghân reminds the party that he won’t accept torturing or killing prisoners, so the invisible orc cannot be killed. Of course he can (and should be) be quickly interrogated, at least to find out how many more troops Gash can call on…

As for the unconscious orcs, Ghân accepts that they have (and will) committed evil acts; that we don’t have time to walk them back for a trial; that we can’t cripple them; and therefore a swift painless execution is justified.

Ghân is ready, provided we can all agree (and we get some idea of opponent numbers).

Ghân: Oh, for those of you wondering, I couldn’t get my Summon Insects onto Gash becasue I couldn’t see him at first. Also he wasn’t wearing visible metal, so my Heat Metal probably wouldn’t apply.

If anyone (Nathor?) needs further curing, Ghân will cast Goodberry (so he can give individual hit point cures, plus have some spares).

Agreed. Lord Gimli has rank enough and standing with the King for this to be done on his own authority, and it would be merciful if they never awoke.

Theogrim draws steel and begins beheading sleeping orcs.

Gwaelur lets out a scream and takes off the head of the last Orc before Theogrim can get to it.

“Let me talk to the prisoner. I will not hurt him, but Nali was a friend and a good Dwarf. Let me talk to the coward who surrendered.”

If the rest of the party are making noise, deciding what to do with captives etc, I’m going to look a bit further down the path and se what I can see.

Sounds like we are in agreement then. The sleepers will never awake with a little too enthusiastic help from the Dwarves (Gwaelur do you join them? For the record Náli is someone you have known for years.)

I misplaced my notes, but reviewing the thread, the only injuries appear to be Nanthor (down 15) and Theogrim (down 6) and of course 4 dead.

Gimli sees to Náli, he moves him to an area of loose rocks and lays him out flat. He then asks for a little help to build a quick and hopefully temporary cairn.

Gimli, "Náli you were young at only 62 and had much to live for and to do with your life. As one of the Dwarves born after the war in the years of renewed hope and cooperation, you were always of positive note and eager to help. You came young to Aglarond and did much work in the short time you had. I will ensure the toy boat you built Princess Fíriel will get to her with honor. Your Mom will know you died honorably and trying to help your companions in a good cause.” He pauses… “We shall slay this evil mage in your honor.”

(Hmm, took a little long for me to complete that post, Theogrim & Gwaelur had not yet checked in when I started)

I’ll help Gimli pile stones onto the cairn, and silently agree with him that the mage needs to die.

“A fine eulogy Gimli. You’re words do him the honor he deserves.”

"To the Halls of Aule,
"Of Mahal the Maker,
"Goes Náli the youthful.

"Faithful to friends,
"Loyal to liege-lord,
"Kindly to children.

"Sit with your fathers
"In honour and glory
"In the place of awaiting;

"That house set aside
"For Aule’s creations
"Of Eru’s adopting -

"Where Elves go not, nor Men,
"Nor even the Valar,
"But only the Khazad

"Till their Maker awakes them
"For Eru’s new service
"At Arda’s unmaking

"When He makes the new Music
"And they join with the Children
“In the World without Ending.”

Seven were the Fathers of the Dwarves. Seven are the stanzas of my song. Rest in peace, Náli.

OOC: Holy crap, that was nice, Mal.

Theogrim stands respectfully near the cairn.

Gimli, Jari, Brúni & Víli look with respect upon the elven bard. Vili is openly weeping.

Gimli, “That was most well done Gil-Gandel, I would be proud to call you a friend. You did much honor by our fallen companion.”

Merry doffs his hat with a bit of a twinkle in his eye, he comes over and quietly whispers, “I would be honored to buy you a drink when we return.”

"Thank you for the fine song el-

er…Gil-Gandel. I am glad to be fighting alongside an elf as noble as yourself. Náli was a good friend, and a good Dwarf. I had know him many years. You do all the Dwarves of Aglarond an honor with your song. You have my thanks."

When an Elf sings, even the birds fall silent.

OOC: Nice One Mal.

Thoroncir raises his sword near the cairn in silent salute to the fallen Dwarf, too soon gone from Middle-earth. He nods with respect to Gil-Gandel: “My friend, by your words you bring great honor to your people, and to the fallen. I thank you.”

Merry, “Our comrade is at rest and now we must quickly ask our questions of this invisible orc and be after the mage.”

Folca is looking for the mage and Deor concentrates on that.

Ghân needs to determine what healing he wishes to do for the injured.

Gimli, “How do we make this orc visible? Damn, didn’t have this problem when I was younger, only one certain Hobbit.”

“Well, we know where he is…what if we throw a blanket overtop of him so we can make out his shape? We can then uncover his head and ask our questions. We don’t need to see him as much as he needs to see us.”

“I grant you leave for one blow of your unarmed fist without reprisal,” grins Gil-Gandel. That ought to do it.

Deor will assist the Dwarves in building a funeral cairn for Nali. All the while, though, keep Folca circling high, looking carefully for Gash as he moves off. Keep looking carefully around this area as well- Gash may be near, setting up an attack.

Are our trackers having any success picking up a trail from the enemy’s last known whereabouts?
