Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game, the Game itself

Ghân: “That’s typically brave of you, but you don’t want to be standing unarmoured waiting for a spell when Hunter-Killers are about.
I think Deor has an excellent selection of spells, but sadly not too many slots.
I would rank Shield, Sleep and Magic Missile all above Enlarge.
Also these are going to be difficult conditions for our Mage, and he may need to think of being Invisible almost all the time…”

I would be very nervous about casting a spell that only worked 50% of the time when facing a Hunter-Killer that could kill me in one round.

I’d be perfectly willing to try Sleep on Hunter-Killers (50% isn’t great but if it allows Theogrim a coup-de-grace then it’s worth it) except that it negates Invisibility. I’m planning to spend this trip mostly Invisible and so Sleep may not be the best choice.

Enlarge, however, is a 2nd level spell, and I can load it without effecting the others you listed.

Designate me, I’m armourless anyway. Also [munchkin]I double-wield, and therefore stand to get twice the benefit out of any damage bonus[/munchkin].

No, it isn’t. Strength is second, Enlarge is first.

I agree about Deor being Invisible as much as possible, but perhaps carry one Sleep for emergencies?

(As Malacandra points out, Enlarge is 1st level.)

Whoops, misremembered. Under What Exit?'s liberal casting preparation rules, I probably will carry sleep anyway.

Perhaps we should have this thread closed now?
