Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game, Third Adventure, Ered Lithui Mystery Creature

[COLOR=“green”]Heh. “Mulligan stew.” :smiley:

[color=darkgreen]
I believe that’s true.

It was too easy for me not to sneak it in. Thanks for catching it.

Your welcome. Not quite what I had in mind when naming the character, but amusing all the same.

Malacandra, good to see you back again.

Waits for morning…

Perhaps the Lady Elenwë knows more. The House of Thranduil is by no means unlearned, though there is none there any longer whose memory goes back to the First Age. Would that we could speak to Elladan and Elrohir, for they have the closest links to the great loremasters of old. I own myself a poor hand at putting myself inside the mind of a vampire; but I am not altogether at ease, and we should be vigilant, so far as our condition allows.

Reminder: It is still June 11th and according to Ghân’s Predict Weather the day will be clear and sunny and hot. It should hit a high of 84°. It is now 8pm and only 74°. (A very long day!)

Renee looking a little startled perhaps, “Excellent point Gil-Gandel. Perhaps even Queen Arwen could tell us more; no one could grow up in that house and her Grandmother’s and not learn far more about these subjects than we.”

Small note: Hodwain is still in bear form and sleeping soundly.

Glee, please redo your spell list. In this game you can cast the spell you pick per slot taken up to your level worth of times.

The rest of the day passes peacefully. When Renee awakens, she checks all of her patients with Ghân’s help. They all appear to be doing well, especially Hodwain who is still in a deep sleep but Ghân assures her that this is fine and proper for him.

Ghân casts his Plant Growth and Renee uses the fresh Kingsfoil or *asëa aranion *to aid the recovery of the patients and others.

Renee, “On this lonely hill, long may the healer herb of the King thrive. A new day dawns on this more old land.” She pauses, “Thank you Ghân. If you could, if you would, could you please scatter and grow some seeds of Athelas whenever you perform your great green magic?”

She proceeds to heal the following:
Riglo: 2 curelights for 23 he is down by 24
Hodwain: 2 curelights for 22 and he is full.
Gwaelur: 1 curelight for 11 and he is full.
Brin is currently down only 2 from lingering Crebain strikes. This will heal quickly enough to not warrant a spell. He has consumed his 8 berries for the day.

She says she feels refreshed and will watch throughout most of the night.

At about 10pm, the sound of hooves is heard.
Shortly the voice of Theogrim calls out, “Hail the Hill! Is Deor and company there?”

Renee on watch is the first to call back, “Welcome Riders of Gondor and the Mark. Please join us.”

Theogrim and 30 riders ride up. One rides a horse however that is slender and shines like moonlight. As the rider approach, you realize that a slender lady rides this creature of moonbeams and it is silvery white with a shimmering single horn.

Gil-Gandel, recognizes Lady Elenwë immediately, though not her mount.

Ghân will load:

1st (7) : Animal Friendship, Detect Magic, Entangle, Faerie Fire, Speak to Animals, Predict Weather, Purify Water

2nd (5) : Barkskin, Cure Light Wounds, Goodberry, Heat Metal, Slow Poison

3rd (3): Neutralise Poison, Summon Insects, Plant Growth

He will use Goodberries, Cure Light Wounds and herbal cures on Riglo.

“Welcome, Lady of the Greenwood! You join us in happy hour, for dread Grilianch is no more and is scattered as smoke on the wind - though I have some misgivings about the manner of her end, of which perhaps we should speak. But it is with much pride that I introduce you to those who have quit themselves like heroes of song and story, and even the very hillside rejoices for its deliverance and puts forth athelas.”

Bowing very low to the Lady herself, and again to her mount which I recognise as of a wondrous and seldom-seen kind.

Lady Elenwë in Sindarin, “Greeting Gil-Gandel, I see you prosper. I recall you singing in my father’s court and in the forest courts especially. I thank thee for thy welcome. This is my friends, Neeya. She is of the rare Minaras.”

Upon closer view the fair creature is less horse like than deer like, but not quite either. It is closer to a large deer though.

Elenwë pushes back the hood of her fine elven cloak and she is very fair. A great beauty and she appears very young. Deor and Brin and even Riglo appear dumbstruck by her beauty. Brin let out an audible, “Ahhh.”

Elenwë, “Let us talk of this Vampire then. What was your concerns and how did you dispose of the body.”

Glee, Riglo has had all the herbals and Goodberries that will help him thus far. How many Cure Lights will you use on him?

Thoroncir was down 5 HP, per Post 995; I assume he would be fully healed by now?

Beautiful as Elenwe is, she’s no Gilraen…

He bows low to the Elven lady. “Hail, Lady Elenwe, and welcome! I am Thoroncir, a Sea-Knight of Gondor and a humble servant of the King, and I am most pleased to meet you. You grace our crude and makeshift camp. May I help you dismount?” He tries not to gawk at her unicorn? mount, the likes of which he has never seen.

He soon shakes Theogrim vigorously by the hand and embraces him, grinning. “Welcome back, friend Theogrim, and well met! We have missed you these past few days. Thank you for coming to our aid, but it seems the worst is now past, fortunately.”

He also greets the other riders with respect.

There is a wistful look and a sigh from Mulligan.

::waits to be introduced::

Rising from his concealed position on watch, Miron makes a point of quietly dusting himself off before leveling a grave bow in Elenwe’s direction, straightening up after the appropriate interval to politely acknowledge the rest of her host. “It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance,” he greets the woman, his voice emerging as a sharp whisper. After sweeping the host with a furtive, vaguely embarrassed glance he resumes speaking in his normal voice, continuing “I am Miron Daelhind, formerly of the Rangers of Ithilien and currently honored to be included as a member of this company.”

Miron’s gaze also curiously passes over the unicorn several times but, not having been introduced to the beast, he reigns his curiosity in and refrains from approaching Elenwe’s mount.

Elenwë makes all greetings, missing Renee somehow in the confusion.

The party manages to relay all they known about the Vampire.

Elenwë, “While I have never fought or seen one of these ancient elf banes, I know my Grandfather did make in Beleriand. This one did not act very typical in its feeding habits or in its final attack. It appeared willing to waste most of its Crebain and attacked rashly against a prepared force and in the daytime. This would never be its methods of avenging the orcs. It would have waited and tracked you for days, picking off one here and two there and you went for water or a little privacy to handle needs of the body. No this vampire must of been protecting its home. Riglo led you right to its lair. Search this hill well in the morning and you shall fine a very well concealed entrance somewhere.”

**Glee **I still need to know how many **Cure Lights **you use on Riglo?

Thoroncir is impressed by Elenwe’s analysis. He hadn’t thought that the party might be so close to Grilianch’s lair, especially as she approached from a distance. He offers to help Gwaelur search the hill more carefully in the morning.

He also notices Elenwe’s oversight of Renee, whether purposeful or inadvertent, and will try to subtly observe Renee’s reaction, especially if Renee introduces herself.

What Exit?, is something missing in, “…I know my Grandfather did make in Beleriand,” or is the word “make” superfluous?

“Make” was stray, I am not sure where it came from, sometimes my laptop does odd things with the cursor and sometimes my brain just glitches.

For the record, as you almost always keep an eye on Renee, it is Renee avoiding Elenwë and not the other way around. Renee just made herself scarce at the right moment and may even being using her power of not be observable. (This could easily happen unintentionally in one so young as she.)

Ghân greets Elenwë politely, gazing interestedly at her mount rather than her.
(Does he recognise it?)

He uses as many Cure Light Wounds as possible, then Goodberries, and finally herbal cures to cure Riglo.

In the morning he will expect to use Detect Magic, either to help find the entrance or to locate any treasure.
He will also speak to any ‘unassigned’ animals, asking if they would like to become a companion to a member of the party (and if so, who).

Elfstan greets Elenwë as politely as he knows how and then greets the rest of the company. Did they bring our mounts?

He is astonished with the guess of this hill being Grilianch’s lair and looks forward to using his treasure finding skills in the morning.

Amazing, it never occured to me that we were so close to the lair either. I am feeling fit as a fiddle now. After a good night’s watch I think I will be ready to go seach the hill. What do you say we set off at first light?

Would one or both of the hobbits like to join us? They are good at finding hidden things and navigating the woods.

Has Elenwe brought the party’s steeds with her?

Having betrayed no reaction to Renee’s behavior, Miron will absent himself for a few minutes to instruct Swift Wing to get some exercise and scout the area from above while he’s at it.

Assuming nobody needs him, he will use the respite offered by their reinforcements to thoroughly canvas the surrounding area for interesting or useful plants.

“Theogrim!” Deor exclaims as he runs up to his brother and tries (unsuccessfully) to envelope his much larger brother in a bear hug. Elves, are one thing, but family is quite another.

With the prospect of searching for loot tomorrow morning, Deor’s loaded spells have changed to:

C:Bee, Smokepuff, Firefinger, Tie, Distract, Palm
1:Identify, Sleep, Detect Magic
2:Invisibility, Web
