I don’t understand why Pence testifying wouldn’t result in the same loss of Republican support just experienced by Liz Chaney.
Isn’t Pence already seen as a traitor by Trumpists? Perhaps he has little more to lose in that direction, and his only remote chance of a Presidential run lies in doubling down and hoping for a Trump implosion and a return to somewhat more normal parameters in the Republican Party? I mean, I don’t see it happening - but who knows where we might be in 2028?
I don’t think a “normal,” democracy-friendly GOP is in the works until and if it starts getting routinely swamped in elections.
I think that time is still a decade or more away.
Totally a traitor to the Trump cause. No way he will win a single primary, much less get the nomination, if he runs in '24.
Even if TFG decides he isn’t running, Pence is done even if he doesn’t yet comprehend that fact.

Apparently, Pence spun a little fairy tale that claimed that at some point after January 6th, Trump asked about his family and expressed regret with how things turned out.
I pretty sure this only happened in Pence’s imagination.
Until Trump kicked him in the face a few times.
Probably true, and I suspect that this year’s disappointing midterm results (when under normal circumstances they would have had a major red wave) isn’t chastising enough to count.
Of course if they succeed in their current full court press to tilt the vote-gathering and vote-counting process far enough to their side that they never lose until after the next Revolution, they won’t have much reason to ever become democracy-friendly before they are swept away entire to the ash-heap of history much as the Soviet Communists and the German Nazis were.
That’s funny, does anyone really believe that after the Access Hollywood tape was released, that Trump called Pence to apologize, and to specifically apologize to Karen Pence?
The subtitle of the book should be “Fairy Tales That Help Me Sleep At Night”. I bet he’s been telling himself these lies for so long that he believes them.
