Remember our current Attorney General provided a new definition of “torture” some time ago.
Personally, I’ll be amazed if there’s any direct link between Cheney or Rumsfeld and the abuse of prisoners. I don’t think they’re innocent, but I can’t imagine they personally sat in on any torture sessions. It was probably a case of knowing winks and “we hope you’ve explored unorthodox methods of getting information” and “we understand that things can happen in a war zone” and “won’t anybody rid me of this priest?” - things were understood without being said.
This was intended as a solely informative Thread.
Since Cheney is openly campaigning to allow torture, surely cannot be a surprise to anybody.
