Powell, Petraeus, and former interrigator smack down Cheney.

Wow! Powell goes on national TVto calmly and intelligently smack downCheney and supporters. General Petraeus supports closing Guantanamo and endorses the idea that it helps US security and the war against terrorism in the long run. A former interrogator with serious credibility calls Cheney unrealistic and uninformed about torture.

Will this be discussed openly in regard to Cheney’s credibility? Will more republicans start to take a serious stand against Cheney and his claim on the GOP?

The Republicans don’t even have the guts to stand up against Rush Limbaugh, let alone Dick Cheney. They are far too committed to the POV that torture was necessary and useful, and BTW it wasn’t torture.

(Bolding mine.) This reminds me of something I stumbled across over the weekend. Apparently in an attempt to prove that waterboarding is not actually torture, Chicago shock jock Mancow decided to be waterboarded on-air in the studio. He lasted less than ten seconds before giving up, saying it was one of the worst things he’s ever experienced. Maybe we should waterboard all the folks who insist it isn’t torture and see how long they last! (Rush and Cheney can flip to see who goes first.)

[thread=448717]Here[/thread] is an old thread where a poster tried waterboarding on himself. He describes the process and the effects upon him.

I’d give Dick Cheney about 3.4 seconds before his brain would experience explosive aneurysm, soaking everyone in the room with the violently reactive molecular acid he uses for blood.

Stranger

I’d stand up to Limbaugh, but not Cheney. The Dark Lord’s powers are too str… ack…I’m sorry Lord Cheney… ack
::thud::

Of course not. The true believers don’t want it to be true and therefore will undergo any necessary mental contortions to avoid facing these facts.

Yeah, Cheney’s undead and could probably withstand waterboarding indefinitely, so I’d just as soon not make him do it. I’d love to see Rush waterboarded though. Especially if in order to stop he’d be forced to say that Hillary Clinton would make a great president.

If you waterboarded Cheney, a motor would engage, a snorkel would rise out of one eye, and water would be expelled out his ass. A tinny laughing sound would come out of the snorkel.

Cheney was discredited back in 2003 when the Bush administration stopped using “harsh techniques” despite his arguments.

Both Obama and Cheney are ignoring this fact because they both think their side is right and don’t want people to realize that Bush’s foreign policy ended up being very similar to Obama’s foreign policy. If there is no difference then neither side can claim that they’re right.

Cheney and the Republicans that are supporting him are doing themselves a great disservice by helping Obama perpetuate this myth.
