I’m running Win98. Every time I open Minesweeper, it opens all the way at the top of the screen, so high up that the title bar and menu bar are hidden off the top of the screen and inaccessible. I can open the menus with the Alt key combinations, but without the title bar, you can’t drag it anywhere. I just use AltF4 to close it when I’m done.
This is the only application on my computer that does this. It didn’t happen when I was running Win95.
Questions:
There’s a file called WINMINE.INI–it should be in C:\WINDOWS–that you can open and edit with Notepad. Change the values for Xpos and Ypos.
You can also change the “Best Times” to show “Jomo Mojo” clearing all the mines on Expert level in 1 second, if you’ve got nothing better to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
There is also a way to move/resize a window using the keyboard. Make the window you want to move/resize active by clicking on it. Press <Alt>+<space bar> to pull down the window menu. Select move or resize from the menu, and you can manipulate the window using the cursor keys.
MEBuckner, you were exactly right. I found
xpos=80
ypos=3
No wonder it was way up the y axis! I reset it to ypos=80 and it now opens in a reasonable position. I just wonder what happened to make the ypos value so tiny?
