Mini Dopefest-Seattle- Friday, July 22

Flying into town early Friday morning, wondering if any Seattle Dopers would like to meet for lunch. I’m pretty open to locations, food, topics of conversation. The more the merrier!

I have yet to meet a Doper I didn’t like, but maybe someday…

Lunch is good, if it’s within walking distance. For me, that’s Belltown to Pike Place Market.

Bad timing; that’s the week I’ll be back in Boston, or I’d have joined you.

Very cool to finally be able to meet you, Johnny.

I will be located very close to there, pick a place. I’ll be using shank’s mare, light rail or cabs that day.

Bah humbug, Robot-that’s disappointing. I always thought you were East Coast-you must have moved, yes? I’ve been a little busy, haven’t had time to pay attention to the boards.

Got your PM. I usually give myself half an hour for lunch, but I’m sure I can stretch it next Friday.

Zipper JJ was in town, and she, needscoffee and I went to Buckley’s for lunch yesterday. It’s about a half-mile from Pike Place Market. Lots of places to eat at the Market, but I haven’t been to most of them. A friend and I went to a place inside (I think it was Pike Place Brewing Company). We got the ‘special’ that day, some sort of fish and veg. Very good, about $20. Uli’s Famous Sausage has a Bierstube where you can get a sausage onna bun (or in a basket) and a brew. Pike Place Chowder has good chowder. Also fish’n’chips and cold sandwiches. Haven’t tried the fish’n’chips. The (crab) sandwiches are good but not great, and filling. I usually get the chowder sampler – four 5 oz. cups of your choice of chowders. Seating at the Post Alley location is very limited. Kells is an Irish pub in Post Alley. I haven’t eaten there yet, but it seems fairly popular. And of course, there are several other places.

As far as getting around, Seattle Metro has a Free Ride Area. I’ve only taken advantage of it a couple of times, since the office is about half a mile from PPM so it’s only a 10-minute walk. The area can be a little hilly, so be prepared for that. There’s barely a hill from the famous PPM sign up Pike to 1st. The hills get steeper to the north. (Fortunately there are stairs here and there.)

Buckley’s or Kell’s looks good. Pick a time, I’ll be there.

Damn. Friday is the day I have to take Mr. singular to the dr. at noon, so I can’t play. I always wanted to meet you, Johnny. Maybe it’ll happen another time…

Haven’t moved; just been out here for a few months on some family business.

I’m in.

I’m open to the suggestions of others, but I’ll make a decision. Buckley’s is three blocks from the office, and one of the waitresses knows what I like to drink. And I’ve been wanting to try the Juicy Lucy.

NB: Juicy Lucy is not the waitress.

.

Robot Arm, when are you available for a mini dopefest? No reason not to have another one!

Well, I’ll probably be back in the neighborhood for most of August. I’m gonna try to get back to the trivia night in Ballard at least once during that time, too.

Looking forward to meeting you, needscoffee.

No other suggestions/recommendations?

Wanna make it Buckley’s at 11:37 AM on Friday?

Sounds like a plan. You want to synchronize our watches now, or closer to Friday?

I can recommend Buckley’s! Although the Bleucy Lucy gave me a ton of heartburn hahaha

Delicious tho

If needscoffee offers to show you around town, take her up on it. She’s a great tour guide! She and JLA are great lunch company as well.

Since I’ll be in Seattle Friday, I won’t be able to read SDMB. So I’ll be at Buckley’s a little after 11:30.

See you there!

I’ll be there.

Just spotted this thread. Got room for one more? Always happy to meet a few more Dopers.

Cool! Do you know of any more dopers?
