Mini-Rants for April Fools

Maybe you could Ask a Manager?

It’s clear to me and I AM ANGRY TOO that you have to put up with this, even once. I had to put up with it too, as a home health nurse and it sucks. Report it to the boss? Sure-ever hear of the adage “the customer is always right?” It didn’t help that the boss was also a male and thought that at my age I was lucky to get any type of male attention. I was 68 at the time.

I think reporting it anonymously to the state agency is the most sanity preserving next step. At least you can go to sleep at night knowing you’ve done something to hold them accountable. Be sure to get a copy of that note that the customer is over-friendly. Shows that management knows there is a problem but they aren’t taking corrective action. Then every time it happens, contact that agency again.

Trust me, I get it and I’m angry for you too.

Yeah no it’s total bullshit. That’s not something anyone should have to worry about.

PMed you the link to report the harassment to the Michigan Dept of Civil Rights. There is a 180 day window. Get others to report it too, if you can. Maybe the same jerk is harassing workers at other bud shops. Sound likely. Make it easier and cheaper for your employer to keep you and get rid of that customer.

Gah, @purplehorseshoe, I’m sorry this asshole made his bad behavior your problem. You deserve better.

What really angers me is that it would take fifteen seconds out of that boss’s day to just remind that customer that the employees needs to be treated like the professionals they are.

Doesn’t have to make a big deal, nothing that could even be construed as “rude” (so the customer doesn’t have a leg to stand on even if he wanted to complain). Boss could have his camera on his phone going, and be friendly but firm. Could even make a quick statement and walk away…then see if the guy acts up again.

It’s outrageous how little the employer is willing to stand up for her. My problematic father in law was staying in a hotel recently and made an inappropriate comment to his waitress. The hotel gave him an hour to get his shit and get out.

I set up a pair of those for my girlfriend this morning. She finds them a little hard to get used to (we had a conversation while I drove to work this afternoon that seemed more garbled than when she uses her Hi-Feer piece), but that may just be a learning curve. The six-hour battery life isn’t her favorite feature (she’s used to twelve).

I’m infuriated on your behalf. It’s a power play on his part. Women have had to put up with this shit for far too long. What is wrong with men who have to exert this level of control?

I used to be a manager at a computer store. One day a customer just lit into one of my salesmen for no reason except that he felt entitled to. It was so bad he actually was in tears (he was pretty young). I called the customer up after I was told what happened, and told him on the phone that he had no right to talk to one of my salesmen like that. He replied that I lost a customer, and I said that in that case I lost a problem. I’m not going to put up with that shit, the customer is very often wrong.

A good employee is worth a lot more than a shitty customer. Anyone who is even halfway competent at management should realize that.

I also thought I understood what black people go through with the police. Damn, I have a handicap placard hanging from my rear-view mirror, and it never occurred to me that it could ever be a problem. Well, at least not for a white guy like me. You are right to be horrified. Everybody should be.

Hey, @purplehorseshoe, this is for you.

And this too, while we are at it.

… told him on the phone that he had no right to talk to one of my salesmen like that. He replied that I lost a customer, and I said that in that case I lost a problem. I’m not going to put up with that shit, the customer is very often wrong.

My brand-new, 3-step ladder with handrails has arrived! Yay!

Some assembly required.

Fuck.

I don’t feel like dealing with that tonight, which means that things I was hoping to put away tonight will have to wait out on the counter, probably until the weekend.

I don’t really mind assembling things. I’m good at it. I just didn’t want Yet Another Thing that has to be dealt with. For every 1 thing I cross off my list, I swear, another 10 get added.

I hate my job with a burning passion, but I recently lost a fair amount of money investing in the futures market. And my best references have disappeared or passed away. So I’m stuck.

I’ve been sick for 11 days now. Most of the cold symptoms have gone away but I am left with a brutal deep chest cough. After a coughing fit, I just want to lie down.

My poor, adorable son keeps trying to make coughing sounds when I do it.

My stove is broken. I think it’s completely dead. It toasted itself. There were sparks and a bad smell, but fortunately it did not start a fire. I submitted a service request online last night. I didn’t get a response, so I called the leasing office. They haven’t responded. I’m not sure how I’m going to survive without a stove. :worried: I might starve.

So I’m not actually recommending this, but…

In the 14-minute video, the woman, later identified by her last name, Zhou, can be seen throwing books at the face of her boss, identified as Wang, and dousing him with water, in addition to hitting him with the mop. He is seen hiding his face behind his fingers, attempting to apologize and saying that he had been joking when he sent the messages.

That was cathartic.

Damn. That guy made no attempt to … anything. Looks like he felt like he knew that beat-down was coming (karma-wise) & that he deserved it.

On a side note, the Chinese language is excellent at communicating emotions like irritation and anger!

I hear ya!

World: “Do the thing.”
Me: "Sure. But to do that, first I gotta … "
World: “More things to do! MOAR!”
Me: "For each of those, first I’d have to … "
World: “THIS FIRST.”
Me: “Oh, shit.”

If only there was some way to send a link of the video to the asshole who’s harassing you. MAYBE he’d get the hint.
