Minnesota wildlife is dangerous (MMP... the Sunday Evening Edition)

VunderBob, the For Sale sign isn’t out front of that house anymore. Now I look like an idiot for even saying something before posting it.

It makes me a sad panda.

Good morning everyone. No time to do anything but post the pun (which is a doozy) and tell rigs I hope the rest of her day is better than her morning.

Me, too. :frowning:

I was wanting to look it over when we come back from looking at another joint in Camden this afternoon…

:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Spats, I may actually be bleeding from the eyes because I read that.

We didn’t get around to Devil’s Food Cake. We went straight to White Chocolate Caramel Latte Cheesecake. Dear Og. It was so rich, I couldn’t finish a whole slice. And I loves me some cheesecake. Danged thing weighed about twenty pounds.

It was not until Monday that the vacation actually started being a vacation and ceased being an ordeal. For Monday, we hit the Strip.

The Strip is everything they said it would be!
Some of the hotels we visited:

The Bellagio:
A beautiful dancing water fountain outside, with dances choregoraphed to some music. The water rose 50 feet high at times. The waves were beautiful, back and forth and absolutely graceful.
Inside, beautiful ceilings, with elaborate tiles laid out carefully, plants, and live flowers. We spent a good five minutes marvelling at a bed of zinnias, hyacinths, and other flowers, in a spot where there was no direct sunlight, wondering how they were kept alive.
Further on, several miniature gardens with wonders of the country. For example, Mount Rushmore, with a tiny train going around it.

Then the Paris - a huge Eiffel Tower outside of it, that lit up beautifully at night. Inside, a definite Parisian flair, with French writing and beautiful French love songs playing.

The Aladdin was definitely my favorite. A fake “sky”, tinted just right to look like morning, afternoon or evening. Long rows of shops that reminded me very much of India, with the appropriate dome-style entryways. And a gorgeous rainstorm in the middle, that looked, sounded, and smelled just like the monsoon season.

The Excalibur was pretty cool, made with medieval style turrets and knights in armor and the whole thing looked like a lovely castle.

Every hotel was just like this. Impressive beyond belief. The thing that really impressed me was how close they looked and how far they actually were!

We also did some gambling that day, and that evening I got a chance to call the SO. I have to admit, I was glad to have the stupid cell phone then, as it was very cool to be able to stand outside the Paris and call him from VEGAS!

Tomorrow - a day of boredom, but ended by SPLASH!

I’m tired.

And my head hurts.

All for no apparent reason.

I have some things to get out of the way this morning, a 9:30 appt, then a meeting with the boiss, then I’ll de-lurk…

I stayed at the Paris when I was there in '04 - we paid extra to be on the Strip side of the hotel so we could watch the Bellagio fountains from our room at night and in the a.m. when we got ready to go out; the Paris has sky covered ceilings also, beyond the casino along by the shops and eateries
In '90 we stayed off the strip but the Excalibur had just opened (Had we but known we could have gotten Excalibur rooms for the same price at Motel 6… <sigh>)

Waaaahhhh!! I wanna go back to Las Vegas RIGHT NOW!!!

Oh…here’s my news from yesterday:

The cop hurt here is a friend of mine. He’ll be ok, but his wife has 3 kids, one on the way, and it’s summer which means they’re ALL home all the time.

**GT and rigs **- I’m all with you on bus idling. We, and a lot of districts near us have no-idling policies, limiting how long buses idle. Plus, we’re upping our bio-diesel ratio to 20% from 2% this year. We’re GREEN.

Not to be a downer, but speaking of buses and safety, MBG probably knows of the accident in Carrollton, Ky., in 1988. I grew up in Carrollton, but wasn’t living there at the time. I shudder to think that I might have been; in my younger days I was an EMT and voluteered with the ambulance service which attended to the scene. Ghastly.

Taters I always read with interest your boat stories. I have, in my possession, a boat. It came along with the husband, but we have yet to use it since it’s in need of repairs. When hubbie and I hooked up, he was in mid-restoration of the trailer, which is now complete, and next comes the work on the carburators. Anyway, I am eagerly anticipating my boatownerhood and long to ski once again. But seeing as I am an out-of-shape, middle aged white woman now (as compared to the svelt, in-shape 25-year-old I was when I last skiied), I wonder if it’s even going to be possible. So, you can let me know. Maybe being dragged in an intertube is going to be more my speed.

Ah-choo. Still sneezing. I can’t wait for June 15–it’s when the pollen goes away.

I mentioned the movie title before, but it was X-Men 3. It was good. We enjoyed it, but it wasn’t really an up movie.

Yawn. Breakfast, laundry, clean kitchen, and figure out what I did to make Aerin so clingy. I think I’ll have yogurt and honey and tea. Tomorrow if it’s cool enough I’m going to bake. Nice whole wheat, some white, and maybe foccacia and some pizza dough.

Mika just want ya to know that I could see your pics with no problem whatsoever. I have mad puter skilz! Ok, I really have dumb luck, but the link worked for me first time.

Just pokin’ my head in from billing hell to say howdy. The good thing about having net access at work is I can work a while, play a few minutes, then go back to work. Nobody minds. YAY!

Spats, even me, the lover of really bad puns, thinks that one is awful. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have a system that not only keeps me sane, it stretches out my meager work so I look busy for most of the day. I do one thing, then I check the boards. Then I do the next thing. And so on. I’m still done by 1:30, but it’s better than being done by 11, I suppose.

On another note, upon recent reflection, I have decided that I hate this job more than any other job I’ve ever had. That’s impressive, I think. As soon as I figure out what the hell is up with my midsection, I’m so outta here. sigh

I’ve made a variation on the death chicken recipe before, rigs. But we just call it chicken casserole. And there’s no bacon. I may have to try it with the bacon!

I actually managed to get up at 5 this morning and to be at the gym at 5:30. I’m wondering when that’ll catch up with me. I’d be fine with it except tha it’s still light at 9pm and I’m having trouble getting to sleep early enough to feel good about getting up at 5. So I’m going to be a sleepy girl later today.

I want to go to Vegas now too! KeithT hasn’t been before, and I’m thinking maybe we need to try to schedule a brief trip over Labor Day weekend. Or maybe Columbus Day. We’ll see. That’d be a lot of fun though! I love the fountains at the Bellagio. I wanna go!!

I’m sleepy just reading that. Of course, I was kinda sleepy before I read it.

yawn Stop that, please. I woke up at 7:00 AM this morning and that was waaaaaaay too early.

I want to go with the SO, now too. But we won’t go over a holiday…probably way, way off season. Actually, I already started setting aside some money for it.

Bwahahahahaa! I, too, am a middle-aged, out of shape white woman. I’m 42 and could stand to lose about 20 to 30 pounds. I have managed to ski just fine. So, if I can do it, you can do it! I’m not a superstar at it, but I do alright. Next is wakeboarding. I met the hubby, son, and a friend at the lake after work yesterday. They wakeboarded; I just pulled them around the lake.

As for tubing, trust me, it can be quite wild. We have a giant one that is about six feet across. We also have a bungie rope for it. There have been some pretty spectacular wipeouts.

Mika, those were nice pictures.

Spats, we need a groan smiley. Good grief!

MBG, I’m glad your friend will be alright.

I’ll try to pop in later, but I need to work now. Plus, I have a meeting to prepare for.

I just got a call for a job interview! It’s exactly what I’m looking for - junior designer at a book publisher. I need this job because 1) the job I’m in isn’t using my art/design skills 2) the company I work for is being sold in the next couple of weeks, and nobody knows (or will tell us) whether we’ll still have jobs. Eventually, I’m aiming to be a designer or art director at a children’s book publisher, and this would be a HUGE step in the right direction. The interview is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Wish me luck, everybody!

Good luck TWO

Shoot, I’m having a hard time keeping up with everybody. rigs, you repainted so fast I didn’t even have time to commiserate about the silver blotches! That chicken sounds soooooo good. Stupid diet.

Bus Guy, sorry to hear about your friend. I hope he gets better soon, and that they guy who rammed him gets sent away for a good long time.

Lissla, I saw X-Men 3 on opening night with a friend of mine. Wow, that movie’s a real downer. Did you stay through the credits? We didn’t, and I hear we missed something.

I’ve never been to Vegas. I figure I’ll get there soon or later.

Taters, I went tubing once. I loved it! I always wanted to do it again, but the only boats my folks owned were canoes, and I couldn’t talke my dad into paddling me around the lake at 20 mph. Lazy bum.

Thanks, rosie!
