Minnesota wildlife is dangerous (MMP... the Sunday Evening Edition)

Eh, 5:00’s not that bad. It’s just a matter of learning how to fall asleep when it’s still light out.

I wanted to go to Vegas midweek before we both started work, but somehow I got this job about a month earlier than I expected. So now there’s a shortage of vacation time so I think all travel is going to have to be on long weekends. :frowning:

Pictures!
Disney (includes the old ones plus more)

Las Vegas

Hollywood Sign

Family

Read-only passwords for all should be “Mellon” again. Vegas and Disney ones are pretty long, just a warning.

Jakely Jake pics Mika. So who’s the creepy guy? [del]Nosy[/del] Inquiring Cool Kids wanna know so we know who to boo.

Night All! It’s the bear’s bedtime!

very nice
did you go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower? Now that’s a view

Here’s the breakdown:

From Left to Right, in the back row

Man on left: Sam, yuck! He looks like a creep in that pic.
Then the woman next to him in teal is his wife.
The young man kneeling is Aaron, and is married to my cousin-sister.
My cousin-sister is the one in the red tank dress on the end.
The one kneeling is my aunt.

And the girl in the penguin shirt? Who know who the hell that is. Must have snuck in last second.

why the hell am I still awake???

Why are you still awake?

Whew! What a day! Two more work days to get through!

Sean, I did not say we were old, I said we were old-ish. Besides, we’re part of the Cool Kids, so we cannot be old. I refuse to be old. I like to say I’m 29 with 13 years of experience.

Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! My damn foot keeps cramping up. Actually, it not actually cramps; it’s more like my second toe keeps getting locked up which sends shooting pains and cramps all through my foot. It hurts, dammit! I don’t know why my foot keeps doing that!

I have been wondering about our missing MMPer’s as well. I hope all is well with them. Once, a very long time ago, Shibb e-mailed me a picture of his daughter. At least, I think it was him. No, I’m sure it was him.

Geeze, The Weird One, do you use a fishing knife to cut your hair? My grandpa always used to threaten to cut my hair off with his fishing knife. By the way, I’m going to call you TWO because it’s just much easier to type. Yes, I am lazy, why do you ask?

Am I the only one who want to type MDG instead of MBG when we’re answering or addressing Mr. Bus Guy? I always have to stop and look and make sure I’ve typed MBG. I mean no slight to our favorite bus person. I always think of Miller Draft and how we shorten it. Not that I really drink it; I prefer, um…better beer.

I have a kazillion channels to choose from on TV and there isn’t a stinkin’ thing on the idiot box that is worth watching. What the hell is up with that?! There isn’t even anything good on “On Demand”. Makes me wonder what the hell I’m paying for.

Tomorrow night, I’m going to grill some buffalo steaks. They should be tasty. I like buffalo, it’s nice and lean. It’s extremely tender if you don’t over cook it and cook it at a slightly lower temperature than one would cook beef steak.

We were going to have them tonight, but I forgot to take them out of the freezer. I asked my son to take them out, but he took out a big package of some other meat instead. Fortunately, it was still frozen, so I put it back.

FCM, I’m sorry to hear you’re still in pain. Have you tried taking Aleve? The hubby is still continuing with his regimen of Aleve, but he doesn’t take it every single day. His shoulder has improved a lot.

I think I’m going to go read for awhile. I have three new books, I should get cracking on them.

Cuz you’re getting old?

Does it help if I tell you I’m older than you?

Ashes[sup]2[/sup] checked in briefly last week, but IIRC she has a bad connection at home and no access at work… Boooo! I think dangergene’s work access was limited too.

I stayed up too late last night cuz I was out at a friend’s and then, of course, I was too wound up when I got home to fall asleep right away and really really tired at the same time. Now I’m really awake and really really tired at the same time. Guess that’s what I get for staying out too late on a school night.

Well…guess I need to get moving and get some cleaning done, go out and look at flowers, get the trash out, and other stuff I’m forgetting.

Is it Friday yet?

The google ad just now said “Take Back Congress”. I’d like to. And get a full refund. Then start all over. It couldn’t be any worse than what we have now.

Billing hell continues.

Remember that party-thing I told y’all about yesterday that I was going to after work. Well envy me, because in the beer line I stood next to This guy. And I did what I always told myself that I would do if’n I ever met him - I called him “Master Chief” while we were talking.

He’s a lot shorter than I thought, but he’s still in shape enough to kick my ass without even sweating (or probably noticing, even.)

Good pictures, Mika. Never been to Vegas, but I did go to Disneyland a few times back in the '70s.

VunderLair update time…

The place we saw last night on the appointment was about as bad as the one we ran from last week. Good riddance.

HOWEVER

The agent had one up her sleeve for us. It was about 25 miles west, in a town called Gatesville. A 1950’s vintage ranch farm house on a full acre, 1450 sq feet, 3 bedrooms, and 5 (!) outbuildings, but 3 were derelict. The other 2 were in superb shape. The only known problem with the property is existing inactive termite damage in the crawlspace.

The house was immaculate, and the price is right. We’re making an offer tonight.

The present owner is the Great White Hunter, and has stuffed animals all over the place. The decor is wood paneling with hunting scenes printed on it. If I was a bachelor, I’d keep it as is, but VunderWife doesn’t like it. I’ve asked if he can part with one of his stuffed deer heads

Swampy, can I enlist your decorating talents? I’ll have to make the place faaaaaaaabulous before we move in…

Congrats to you and VunderWife, Bob! Hope this place doesn’t turn up any surprises in the inspection.

Good morning, kiddoes!

What’s worse than coming home to cat puke? (See FCM’s post earlier.)

Waking up in the middle of the night to pee, and stepping in gooshy cold dog puke. Two nights in a row! Ok - I didn’t step in it last night. But I did the night before! Ick. Lucy seems fine, and her appetite is huge as usual. If this keeps up, I’ll have to take her to the vet, though.

I’m having some weird pain in my right side, too. I took one of dad’s pain pills last night, and it felt better. I think I better call the doc this morning, since this has been going on all week. It’s probably my liver getting attacked by medicine… owie.

In other news, I have tomorrow off, so today is Friday! We’re going to take my dad to an Astros game on Saturday for an early Father’s Day present. Then dinner out at Denis’ - a Cajun seafood place.

Good luck closing the deal, Bobbio!

Sean, you met Rudy? That’s awesome! I guess you did your networking, then.

Bobbio, good luck with the house. Sounds like the gods saved you this one.

Rebo, yeah, call the doctor. This coming from the person who’s so sick of doctors she can’t even bring herself to make an appointment for a second opinion.

Can I go home now?

Good luck on the offer Bobbio. Good luck on figuring out what to do with the wood paneling too. Is it real wood? If it is and you feel like the effort, I’d say sand it down and stain it, cause real wood can be good. If it’s the fake stuff, then, ICK! Yank it down and sheetrock the joint.

Tell VunderWife you want to go with a Hawaiian theme. Astroturf instead of carpeting, birds of paradise wallpaper, tiki torches instead of sconces and thatch on the ceiling. Wicker furniture and large lamps shaped like palm trees. Do this, and trust me, you will not have to lift a finger to redecorate or anything.

Since it’s a large lot, you will, of course, put in a pool, right?

Taters - I’m reluctant to take Aleve because of the aspirin incident some years back - apparently I’m susceptible to bleeding if I take it regularly (my mom would up in the hospital for the same thing) so I’m sticking with ibuprofen. And if I’m not properly impressed with these orthopedists, I’ll make the trek to Baltimore and see Dr. Bob - the guy who did FCD’s neck. Him I trust, but right now, I’m none too keen on making a 2 hour drive (one way) for a consult.

Yes, I’m home. I went into work, but a bout of gastro-intestinal distress and an unfortunate incident necessitated the changing of the clothes. Since I had to come all the way back here anyway, I decided to stay. So far, I’ve installed the screens in the storm doors (been meaning to do that for a while), tossed a load of clothes in the washer, and I’m going to get into the Suzy Homemaker mode and clean house. Plus I offered a couple of pieces of my ceramics to an ASPCA auction fundraiser, and I need to decide which I’m going to give them.

So I’m just gonna enjoy a day at home. Yay.

Good luck, Bobbio! The house sounds sorta similar to the place we bought in King George back in '97. We called it the Dead Animal House. The owner had all kinds of stuffed critters, including 3 bears (not The Three Bears, tho) and a bobcat, and various fowl, and probably a deer or 2. Most attractive was the standing bear in the archway between the living room and dining room - really stunning… Anyway, hope this one works out for you!

No pool, but I do have plans for a humunguous outdoor kitchen and party patio…

You’ll have lots of space for herds of concrete deer - too bad we gave ours away already… :stuck_out_tongue:
