Minnesota wildlife is dangerous (MMP... the Sunday Evening Edition)

I am becoming more familiar with the regulars, and today I figured out who was being referred to as two! However I truly appreciate the list of regulars, and am keeping tally as best I can.

I empathize with the insomnia, I love to bake, and working in a bookstore would be bliss (I would imagine) but eight husbands??? You are either a saint, or insane! lol!

We are eating pseudo-chicken cacciatore (my family have the discerning tastebuds of swine, which makes cooking for them ridiculously easy, but leaves my tastebuds wanting flavor) and watching comedy central (again, my family has plebian tastes) but The Son is back to normal, and I am looking forward to sending everyone to bed soon. This has been a fun week, trying to keep up with all y’all, can’t wait to see what Monday will bring!

Thanks for making a newb feel welcome!

Not full??? And precisely who emptied it, I wonder??? :dubious:

:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s Saturday, I’m showered and dressed and waiting till it’s time to leave for class. FCD and I will be leaving together - he’s got a Dr appt in Prince Frederick, which is on my way to Annapolis (I’ll wave at you, Mama Tiger, as I drive past!) But he’s just going for a followup on his lipids, so he won’t be there long - which means we’re going in separate cars. Then he’ll come home and finish the drywall work so when I get home, I can prime and paint. Somewhere in there, he’ll clean the concrete and put down the floor tiles. And I’ve got to paint the door and frame before we install it. That’ll probably be done tomorrow.

In fact, if all goes well, my washer and dryer will be moved tomorrow, plus we’ll finally have a toilet in the basement! The drain was roughed in when the place was built, and when we built the first laundry room, I told** FCD** we should at least put in a toilet. He didn’t want to bother. So after 2 years of having to run upstairs in the middle of a project, we will have facilities on the same level. Yay! Then his next project will be to build the sink cabinet. And my glaze work bench. THEN he can get back to work on the end tables for the family room.

Me? I’ll be throwing pots.

Up, sorted laundry, pretty much ready to head out to the park to conclude container labeling. Then back to my garden. And laundry.

So, are you going ot continue taking classes now that you have your own wheel and kiln, FCM?

Oh…and I don’t think anyone replied to your offer to start up on Monday. Let’s just put this to a vote: ::Looks around and notices that most voters are sleeping… hee…::

All in favor, signify by saying “Aye.”
::Notices voters perk up with various startled looks::

AYE!!!

All opposed…

::crickets::

Happy Saturday!

GT

Yeah. Just now…

Yesterday afternoon was the product of The Vast Conspiracy To Piss Me Off.

TPTB decided that we could leave the base if we were routed through the container port being built next door. The construction guys were tickled shitless about becoming traffic cops.

So, I get out of work a half hour later than expected, and get stuck (as in 0 forward motion) in a traffic jam for the Monitor-Merrimac tunnel. I sat 20 minutes before my lane started moving, which let me off at the last exit before the bridge and tunnel. I doubled back, and set out for the James River Bridge. Apparently, everone else who needed to get to the peninsula had the same idea. Turns out the other tunnel to the peninsula was plugged, too.

A normally 20 minute commute took 2:15. The idea of driving 45 miles one way with no major water to cross from Mayberry got a whole lot more attractive last night. Have I mentioned in the last 30 seconds how much I hate the SoCal-esque crowding and traffic that I have to deal with now?

Oh, and I need to mention that with the new VunderLair, I’m planning on burning down the 3 derelict buildings. The dog will be inside the house, far from the action.

I think it’s a better deal than blowing up the pool, like I going to do with the last place we almost bought.

Good morning! How’s everyone’s Saturday (or whatever) so far? I’ve been lazy thus far. Made coffee, read the paper, updated my anti-virus (hey, I can count that as productive!), and been reading the dope. Soon as somebody stirs, I’ll get cleaned up and head out to the pool. I have chicken marinating, but I did that last night. Also I cleaned the pool late yesterday afternoon, followed by a wonderful kersplash in the pool. It was wonderful.

Have a good day y’all!

no, that would be a Metal list

a metal list would be
iron
steel
aluminum
copper

Ewww, sounds like no fun, Bob! I’m happy to live close to work and take the bus cuz I can always do other stuff (read, chat with others, make lists) while in transit. I don’t suffer traffic jams gracefully if they happen too often.

My first thought when I read “metal list” was that it was beautifully engraved, probably by Lissla herself. Oh, and maybe beaded too.

Back from the park. It’s raining, so I’m going to be a good girl and wander around the house compiling a list of stuff to do before Far-Away Best Friend and family arrive in late August and before I host our book club in July. I have a really really long wish list, but I need to prioritize and get moving on it.

Also, maybe I’ll upload some pics to be printed.

But first, there’s brunch.

GT

::yawn::
I could have slept for about another 12 hours I think. The weather here has taken a turn for the crappy. Rainy, cloudy and COLD. Right now it’s 58, and that’s the best we’re going to get today. I printed **rigsy’s **Death Chicken recipe, and I think that’s on the menu tonight.

Wife and I have a quick run to drop some things at people’s houses, then home to clean and stuff. Bring out the Animal and scare the cats.

Wife and Kid have a mommy/daughter movie night planned in the Kid’s lair tonight, so I’m renting a couple non-chick flicks, popping some popcorn and staying down here with the cats tonight. Yup, I live a fast, wild life I do…

Bobbio…blow up the pool? That sounds like too much fun. Next time the urge to do that hits you, call, ok? In fact, I could stand to drop by and watch some good building burning…

It is cold. I love it! It’s not hot! I hate summer!
Attacks Husband came over last night at about ten thirty, and we went for a walk and then came home and had tea. Mr. Lissar had long since gone to bed. I got to bed at about two, and had a beautifully peaceful night interrupted only by the sound of Bailey horking up his dinner at 6. Mr. Lissar and I laid there in bed, waiting for the other person to get up. He won.

Besides that it was very peaceful.

Today I am apparently going to watch Mr. Lissar’s pre-grading, and there’s a craft show in the park. We’ll probably go to Lazy Husband’s this evening. It’s awfully nice not to work on a Saturday.

Ugh, Bobbio, that sounds awful!

My commute used to take 20 minutes too. But, with all the development out this way, my commute has stretched to 45 minutes to almost on hour. Using the same route. It’s most annoying.

So far today I’ve gotten up, poured coffee, and read the MMP. Yep, I’m real productive.

The sky is looking pretty gray, and it doesn’t feel too particularly warm. We’ll probably have to take a “wait and see” attitude for water skiing today. I’m sure if it warms up, we’ll be out there.

I actually broke down and bought a lottery ticket this last Wednesday. I have yet to check the numbers. I don’t even know if anyone actually won.

I have not figured out what is on the menu for tonight’s chop-chop.

I’m going to cruise some more of the Dope and clean up, I suppose.

AHEM!
Don’t mind me, really. <huffs indignantly>

It is nice here today–it’s not even 60 degrees! BUT, it rained like hell last noc and so soccer was cancelled today(pitch is underwater)–those were the last games of the spring season. <pout>

Ah well, today I have to pack #2 for camp, as well as tidy a bit and run some errands. Apparently I have entered second childhood, because I am rereading the HP series, to myself (and not even mouthing the words!). Husband is to paint the ceiling today.

I hope to never see a can of paint again-although I still need to do some research on my paint treatment for the front hall.

kawik -I may have spelled that wrong, sorry. Your son’s hives sound serious–does he maybe need an epi pen? Check with your doctor. Just sayin’.

Oh, FCM, I did not have but two drinks out that whole fifth of vodka. In fact, on Thursday, when I’d had such a terrible day, I didn’t have a single drink. I know it’s surprising, but I rarely drink. I have a drink or two when I go out, I might have a few drinks if I’m hosting a party here, and that’s pretty much it. Well, except for when we go camping. Then we have “camping” drinks.

We’ve got to finish painting. I’ve been waiting months for hubby to do it; but I think I’m going to have to do it on my own. It’s driving me nuts. We’re always so farkin’ busy though. When we do have down time, we’re just too tired to do anything but sit and relax.

Sorry, sorry, everyone I missed! I did say I’ve got a really bad memory, didn’t I?
:Shoves a lot of conciliatory baked goods through the cd drive:

I made homemade chocolate pudding with whipped cream yesterday. Anyone want some?

Mmmmmmm, chocolate. But it might gum up the CD drive. Whaddaya think?

GT

I’ll pass. Don’t like chocolate pudding.

Whoa, someone else here beads? I love beading, and am currently making lots of stuff (earrings, loomed bracelets, etc. for the Autumn Bazaars. I also play with polymer “clay”, Fimo, Sculpy, that kind of thing. Along with a lot of mixed media crafty stuff and crochet/knit/crewel/needlepoint/etc. I am super jealous of FairyChatMom and her new wheel and kiln

eleanorigby and everyone else who has expressed concern for The Son, thank you. We live only a block away from the hospital, so I don’t worry overmuch. I was an extremely allergic kid, some of it I have “outgrown”, #1 daughter takes after me as well as The Son. Who hasn’t had any anaphylactic trouble, although #1 daught and I have both developed asthma. The Son is 13, and he has very sensitive skin. I am fairly certain that it was the dust in his room which triggered the hives, and the benedryl did the trick. Skiffologist thoroughly vacuumed The Son’s room last night while I washed all his bedding, and after one more dose of benedryl he slept the night through, and is, in fact, still sleeping. (It’s not even 9:30 here, so he can sleep for a while longer!) I did sneak in and pulled the covers down far enough to check his torso, and he is clear of hives, so it’s all good.

It’s sort of funny, I moved up here to Bugswat Toolieville to escape the city (Seattle) with all the traffic, noise, and hurry hurry hurry. All these years later I become nostalgic for some of it, and read all y’all’s posts about office work, traffic, neighbors, etc. to keep from going crazy in this slow, laid back town. It’s fun to share my life here with you. We do not have a traffic light in the regular sense, we have two which are blinking three way stops, and rush hour happens around 7:00 - 8:00 am and again at 5:00 - 6:00 pm. I laugh when folks get impatient when they have to wait for five cars to pass before they can turn onto the main road. (Yes, The main road! It’s fun to share Life on an Island with you, I hope I don’t bore anyone.)

The sky is trying to clear, with the help of a good stiff breeze, so I may be able to get outside and see what perennials made it through the move, and check on any voluntary re-seeders. I really have to move the mass of baby poppies, they are far too crowded to thrive where they are at. Fortunately I have a lot of bare space in my beds and tubs!

Dinner tonight is easy, leftovers from last night! I will probably eat something else, as marinara sauce upsets my tummy. I chewed so much maalox last night! Maybe a baked potato with cottage cheese on it, that sounds good to me right now!

I waved back atcha, FCM – did you see?

We’re having windy and cloudy weather with perfect temps – 70F (that’s 21C for you Canuckistan folks) – but there is allegedly a zero percent chance of rain, so I don’t mind the cloudiness. We have two dead, dead, dead dogs after yesterday’s swim; the only thing they’ve done all day is get all excited when Papa T. baked them some no-sugar-added oatmeal peanut butter cookies. He’s tempted to eat some of them himself. Our dogs eat better than I do, I swear. Homemade doggie biscuits. What’s next, dinner served on a silver platter?

Can I come watch you burn the outbuildings, too, VunderBob? I’m a barely-restrained pyro myself. It was great when I was a kid and we went camping all the time; my dad assigned me feed-the-fire duty, and I made sure we always had a perfect one. I greatly impressed my Girl Scout troop some years back by building a nice fire that burned merrily through the rain – hey, if it’s big enough, it’ll burn through any precipitation.

I’ve had a fairly lazy day thus far. Did a bit of work (the bane of the self-employed – working on weekends), did a bit of sewing, doing a lot of wasting my time on the internet. Now I’m contemplating a nap. It’s perfect napping weather, after all!

Okay, I’ve managed to clean myself up, read the paper and read through the owner’s manual of my Expedition.

Hubby is currently out to buy a wakeboard rope, some new ski gloves, and a ball/hitch for my rig.

I was reading my manual because I wanted to make sure we are doing the right thing when pulling the boat with regards to type of ball/hitch, etc. He totally blew me off. Ugh! I’ll be pissed if my rig gets messed up because he couldn’t bother to listen to me when I was trying to tell him about weight distribution, auto-leveling/lack of auto leveling, etc.

Sure did! Love your top!

I came home with 13 new hunks o’ceramics. I thought I’d glazed 12 last week, but I was wrong. That’s one more to give away. Plus the 9 that I glazed today.

gt, I’ll continue to take classes so’s I can learn stuff. I’d like to start doing some less, um, primitive forms. But I’ll probably just take one a year instead of 3. I may also do some weekend seminars - there are all kinds of neat intensive courses held all over the country. Maybe next year…

I’m waiting for the primer to drive - in a little bit, I’ll go back downstairs and paint the room. We decided to go with the peach that’s in the dining room instead of the sage. So we’ll have a peachy bathroom/laundry room with grey slate-look tiles and grey switches and plugs. If all goes well, it’ll be done tomorrow, and I’ll try to post pics then.

As Mama Tiger mentioned, the weather is gorgeous around here. I have the house open, and a lovely breeze is wafting through. Loverly!! ALthough a little rain would be nice, too.

Well, back to work. Thankfully, the room is really small, so it won’t take very long at all. So I’ll be back soon.
