That’s not very reassuring…
The double post where our administrator mentions technical issues?
Or the delay in adding women to the moderation team? Or what?
~Max
That kind of makes my point, doesn’t it?
Jenny
PS What I tell you two times is true.
The bit where the Adminstrator of this forum says “And no, i don’t know all the details.”, actually.
The double post was just added farce, after that tragi-comedy line.
You need to say that twice before I believe it.
It’s very hard to hold up half the sky when the jerk holding up the other half keeps looking at your boobs and making comments about how he’s surprised to see a woman holding up half of a whole sky because you usually see them doing stuff women are good at, like fertility or love goddessing. It’s very frustrating when you complain about it to the chief god only to be told that things really are going to change, soon, honest, but in the meantime can’t we all just get along? Try being nicer to him.
After all, he only does it because he likes you.
That’s contributing to a hostile celestial environment.
Jeez, ladies, * calm down. * Don’t get the *vapors. * Are you nuts? Are you crazy? Well, I didn’t know you were a woman, and I will say this in five years, too, after lots of sly little dogwhistles.
Hi - any update on this?
Thanks for the bump! It would indeed be nice to see what new policies or practices have been put into place.
You should be seeing this every day in the postings on the board. People are being noted and cautioned and warned when they say things that are rude, inappropriate, misogynistic. People should be feeling more comfortable on the boards nowadays, women and men.
Will it be a perfect place? No, because people are not perfect; we are prone to make mistakes. (I hear there was only one perfect person ever on this planet and you know what happened to HIM.) So it’s not the Big Rock Candy Mountain here and it’s never going to be. But the attitude and the culture is better and it will continue to be so.
As always, if you see something you think is offensive, report it to us. Go to the moderators first; they deal with all issues and all peoples all day long and have the closer relationship with all of you. I do not have time and etc. to read everything on the board or even much of anything on the board; there is so much to do that there are not enough hours in the day for me to weigh in on every issue.
Understand that the mods may not necessarily see things your way. If their rationale needs explaining, ask them to explain it again. Usually you can trust their judgment.
Think of it like going to the doctor; a lot of things you can diagnose and treat yourself or with a little friendly advice. If you think it’s big and/or persistent, call me like you would the doctor. If truly needed, The Doctor Is In.
I hope this is sufficient for your needs.

I’ve noticed. Props on finally clamping down on the Creepy Old Man ex-Mod, for one thing.
I have noticed as well. Nice to see the overall vibe changing.
Thanks very much, Tuba, and I have noticed some of those improvements. How about adding women moderators? Any update on those plans?
Yes, we need more moderators, period.
Because of all the troubles we’ve been having I have been remiss on bringing new moderators on board. This is because of two reasons:
- Dealing with our system issues has taken up a ridiculous amount of my time.
- I have been hesitant to bring new people on and drag them through vBulletin if maybe we’re not staying with vB. I don’t want to make the moderator learning curve any tougher than it is.
That being said, I realize that we really, Really, REALLY need new people on board here like yesterday. And I gotta do something about it sooner rather than later; this can’t wait.
Watch this space for further developments.
