OK wait a second… MC has not called her office AT ALL? Just told someone to come by and pick up her last check?
Doesn’t this strike anyone as extremely weird? How long has she worked there? I’ve gotten the impression that she’s not easily embarrassed so whats the deal?
I was wondering about that - person calls the office, claims to be the friend of MC, and gets the check. Next day, MC shows up, and demands her check. “I didn’t authorize you to give that check to anyone!”. LAWSUIT.
I have never worked anywhere that would give a check out to anyone but the employee without prior, written authorization. MC wants someone else to pick up her check? Tough beans**. She needs to get it herself.

All true, but you also don’t want a frivilous lawsuit for failure to pay wages due. I’m sure you’re not alone in hoping MC will be forced to show up in person for her last paycheck, but if she were to call and ask that it be deposited in her account I’m sure they would do that. Much easier to do that than come to town just for one little paycheck.
Her personal belongings are another matter. It sounds like it was a lot of material, and I doubt the company wants to pay shipping if she asks them to send it somewhere. Of course teddy bears and poems are pretty plentiful almost anywhere in the US, so she may not want any of it.
Don’t worry. There’s still enough silicone and robot parts to go around.
So, auntie em, it’s Monday morning. Has MC turned up demanding her check, or expecting to go back to work as if nothing happened? Quit keeping us all in suspense.
Maybe someone can set up an auto-poster for her:
“Nothing new to report today, I’ll keep you updated”
That’ll keep the clamor down 
Why do I have the feeling that the ending people make up for this story is gonna be better the the truth ie MC is never heard from again and life goes on 
I hate it when that happens .:mad: - I rather like the truth is stranger than fiction thing.
