Missing links to New and Unread Topics

I generally browse the Straight Dope by picking a thread with unread posts on the home page, reading those, then scrolling down, where there is a list of suggested topics, either Unread (has posts I haven’t read) or New (new threads started in the past few day?).

Below that short list has always been a line with links to all Unread or to all New topics. My habit is to click on one of these to get a page with all Unread or New topics and choosing from this longer list.

This morning I discovered that the links to all Unread or New were missing from their usual spot at the bottom of the page.

Is it just me? I use Straight Dope Light, but I tried a couple of other themes with no luck. I looked for some settings, but didn’t see anything that looked like it would restore these (besides, I haven’t set any of them since the transition to Discourse)

If it isn’t just me, is there a way to quickly access the pages that used to be conveniently linked at the bottom of a thread?

That’s how I browse too and it sucks.

I did realize that if you scroll down a bit more to the black footer, under the Community heading you can click “Top”, “Latest” or “Trending” and it’s the same link. Perhaps we just need to re-train ourselves.

Could be a speed factor - retrieving that post count on every page is a bit of a chore. But then again they could have the links w/o the count. But then AGAIN … those links do exist without the count, a little further down, in the footer

It’s definitely a “first world problem”, but it’s annoying as hell.

Anndd…They are back!

You might want to check the same/related problem mentioned here:
