Missing links

Over in This thread several people posted links to various vintage ads.
Starting with post #27 Dijon Warlock complained that some of the links are not visible in Opera. Then it turns out some other links are missing for other people.
I’m using IE right now, and can’t see a link in Mr. Rosewater’s post.
What is going on?

You don’t see any links (or smilies–or linked smilies) in either of Mr. Rosewater’s posts because there are none; he didn’t include any. As for Dijon Warlock’s problem, the links all show for me in Opera 9.01, Firefox 1.5.0.7, IE 6 and IE 7 RC1–and that’s true whether I’m logged in or logged out. It sounds, at this point, like the missing links (heh) might be a local browser issue for Dijon Warlock.

Thanks for the response.

Yes there are no links in my post (either of them) in that thread. I did not include any, as SkipMagic pointed out. I said there were becuase I thought the thread was a big whoosh and that there were no links. I appear to be having the same problem as Dijon Warlock. I see the same things, and don’t see the same things, he does. The word ‘this’ does not appear in the OP as far as I can see. Nor does it appear in any of the other posts where it is quoted. I was assuming that people were making things up as they went to make it appear they were looking at an actual link, but it appears that they were, in fact, all looking at the same thing, which seems to be the site linked. Sorry for any increase in confussion I may haver caused.

I have just downloaded Firefox and still no link. I have now tried my usual Yahoo browser, Firefox 1.5 and IE 7. No joy.

Hmm… a possible bug tied to certain user accounts? (Which, I suppose, could explain why you can repeat the problem with different browsers.)

Do you have this issue with any other computers, or is it just that PC–and, have you experienced similar problems before with other links?

It seems to be related to my firewall. When I turn off Norton Internet Security, I can see the link, although not the content of the linked site.

Ah one more reason not to use Norton Internot Security .
