Since I’ve been using this new laptop, I’ve been unable to use the “hyperlink” function here on the board. Specifically, when I try to paste the URL of the link into the space provided, it simply doesn’t post. Nothing happens. I should note that this new laptop uses Windows 8; it’s the only difference between it and my previous laptop. Has anyone else experienced such issues? Any idea what I need to do?
What browser are you using, and does it have any security addons like NoScript, for example? Is JavaScript not enabled in the browser?

For now, you can always just do the urls manually with: Text describing link here[/noparse]
And, of course, if it’s just a plain out-in-the-open link without text to describe it, you can just paste it straight in your post without using the url button, and the board will make it a clickable link by default.
I’m using I.E., I’m not sure if JavaScript is enabled or not :o Although I think it is.
I know I can always just post links but that is stupid and I don’t like it.
In your browser’s URL window (where you type the address you want to go to) there should be a blue-looking icon which is the “Compatibility View” icon. Click on that and see if that fixes it. I think it probably will.
Otherwise, just go with Firefox.
Here are some good instructions (with pictures) about using Compatibility View, in case you don’t see the icon.
Thanks, I got it fixed (whatever my last link was).
What fixed it? And what does that link to an old thread have to do with it?
I ask for the sake of others who might have the same problem in the future.
The link was just whatever I already had “in the holster” from my previous paste, the specificity of the link itself was irrelevant. I just wanted to demonstrate that the hyperlink was again working for me.
I hadn’t been using the Desktop browser because it was so slow (I never bothered to figure out why), so when I switched back over to the Desktop and disabled a bunch of programs that were slowing it down, everything was fine.
