Hyperlink Button

Is it just me or is the hyperlink button in vBulletin broken?

It’s not broken, at least for me, but it doesn’t function the way it did back in the day. It used to ask you for the URL and the test (and maybe it’d skip asking you for the text if you had the text selected). Now it asks you for the URL and then creates the vbcode highlighting the part that will be the text of the link so that you can edit it.

Nope.

For the above, I:

  1. Typed “Nope.”
  2. Highlighted the word “Nope”.
  3. Clicked the hyperlink button.
  4. Pasted the url into the pop-up window and clicked “Okay”.
  5. Profit.

Thanks, but I was aware of the change.

The problem is, I press the button and nothing happens.

Julian

Well I’ll be damned. That’s neat.

tested this link in quick reply

Seems to be working in quick reply at least…

How strange.

If it helps, which it probably won’t, all the other options on the input screen seem to be working OK.

I think I know what’s happened.

The punitive sanctions of Mod Note/Warning/Suspension/Banishment have been replaced by stealthy removal of the following privileges, like so:

Hyperlink/Bold/Smilies/Colors.

If my bold facility goes tomorrow I’m going to keep quiet. They’ll think I haven’t noticed, but they’ll be wrong. But, if my smilies have disappeared by Saturday (:(), I’m going to post a strongly-worded message of complaint (in turquoise while I still have the chance) indicating my profound displeasure at this bizarre turn of events, and requesting full details of my alleged misdemeanour.

In case my punishment schedule is accelerated on some whim or other, this is goodbye. It’s not bad here, despite what everybody says.

Why just you and not anyone else? I got it to work fine.

Did a big reboot lately?

Hello again.

There have been no changes to my system in months. Hyperlink worked fine yesterday. I haven’t changed the way I use it. I mouseover the icon and it says ‘Insert Link’. I click on the icon and nothing happens.

It’s not your fault then?

No, it’s probably your browser having issues with javascript. If you haven’t yet, be sure to try another browser to rule out problems with the one you’re using. (Use Chrome or Opera, for example, if you’re using Firefox.)

Otherwise, clear out your browser’s cache and reload the page to try again.

I’ll take that advice, thanks.

By the way, there’s no problem with hyperlink on vBulletin Version 2.3.0.
