You guys remember Trump University? Remember how he got fined $25 million? Did you know he hasn’t paid it yet? Its true, just yesterday it was “finalized”.
Anybody else here wondering if he actually has $25 million?

I think it’s more like “anyone who is capable of getting through SEAL training - both the brutal BUD/S and the equally demanding advanced training - has the ability to become extremely detached about shit, and ignore hard and repeated kicks in the nuts.”
I don’t know if Greitens tried to invoke his status as one of these elite individuals as part of his defense at any point in these proceedings; if he did, I think that would be a cheap move and fallacious appeal to patriotism. I don’t know if he actually did that, though.
He hasn’t. Greitens’ defense has been, “I admit I had an affair. Everything was consensual. I didn’t take any pictures.” That, and his lawyers filing many motions to dismiss the charges, and his defenders pointing out the prosecutor isa LIBERAL DEMOCRAT FUNDED BY GEORGE SOROS.
May? Until there are 67 Dem/Ind Senators, he’ll beat it. In other words, you better hope he loses in 2020.
Seems to be an epidemic of that recently. That Soros guy sure gets around.
Winning a lawsuit is often much easier than actually collecting the amount you are owed.
Especially where Trump is concerned.
Missouri House Speaker Todd Richardson, House Majority Leader Rob Vescovo, and House Speaker Pro Tem Elijah Haahr have issued a joint statement calling on Greitens to resign. Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard issued a similar statement and said if Greitens doesn’t step down, impeachment proceedings should be initiated.
Given that the Senate Majority Leader already called for him to resign five days ago, that’s pretty much a clean sweep of the Republican Leadership.
Of course, Greitens ran as an outsider. He made it clear from the start he didn’t owe the Republican establishment a damn thing, and they made it pretty clear they felt the same way.
He don’t need no allies! He’s a macho stud badass SEAL!
Here’s a fun fact. Eric Greitens actually got fewer votes for Governor than his running mate, Mike Parsons, got for Lt. Gov.
That’s not the best credential for hanging on while the party leadership is turning against you.
Why would it even be a big deal? If he’s impeached and kicked out, wouldn’t the lieutenant governor take over? And isn’t he also a Republican? When you’ve got a choice between a toxic member of your party in power, who will drag down the entire party, or a nontoxic one in the same office, why wouldn’t you choose the nontoxic one?
And Greitens has filed a restraining order against Attorney General Hawley…
Some guesses:[ul]
[li]Greitens seems to be chummy with a certain kind of racket or corrupt organization within the GOP.[/li][li]Loyalty matters, ethically, within the mob.[/li][li]Intimidating lower-profile Republicans (like Ron Richard!) is a great way to maintain a certain level of boot-licking on their part.[/li][/ul]Of course the problem with all that is that Ron Richard, for one, has been in Jefferson City longer and has more allies and friends then does Governor Muscles. I don’t know what his relationship is with Muscles’s biggest backer, though.
Damn, he’s not backing down at all, is he? This reminds me of when Saul Goodman filed for a restraining order on behalf of Mike Ehrmantraut, against the office of the DEA.
Why would he back down? The national Republican party is basically rigging democracy and is now clearly on the path toward rigging the criminal justice system, as if the actions of Devin Nunes and Mitch McConnell left any doubt?
Seriously, why would he respect things like criminal laws against rape? He watched the same election results we did: the country voted for a serial sexual assailant as president and congress doesn’t seem particularly interested in restraining the authoritarian in chief.
Greitens figures that if it works for one Executive, it can work him, too.
This morning the trial judgethrew out the defense’s latest motion (I believe this makes six in all) to dismiss the charges.
However, the reports of his ruling read like he’s pretty damn sick and tired of both the defense and the prosecution and figures the fastest way to get it over with is just to have the trial.
And he’s been charged with felony computer data tampering.
And of course the Gov. has issued the ritual denial.
But this time he IS pointing out that he was a Navy SEAL.
Something I didn’t know until recently, is that he was (as SEALs go) kind of a nobody. He got passed over for a command, and left after only 4 years. Apparently, it’s kind of verboten to get your trident and bail out at the earliest opportunity.
