Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens - indicted!

So they’re dragging this out.

No, I’m sorry, that’s unfair. But I do wonder what Greitens is going to be doing for the next few weeks, and what he’s going to be embezzling. I don’t trust that guy.

He’ll be signing the non-controversial bills the Legislature passes, and probably make an appearance or two in the rural parts of the state to talk Christian values and getting rid of “professional politicians” (except for the ones who happen to represent that particular area, of course.)

The rest of the time he’ll be in conference with his lawyers.

I thought Greitens was Jewish. Does he go out and pretend to be Christian for Christian audiences, or does he lay some kind of non-denominational “God” rap on them?

Invasion of privacy charge dropped after defense planned to call Kimberly Gardner as a witness. A special prosecutor and a re-filing of the charge is expected.

The prosecution started with a shaky case and mismanaged it into a complete shambles.

The legislative committee investigating Greitens has turned its attention to whether he set up shell organizations to funnel illegal contributions through.

Campaign contributions were always the more serious issue, although nowhere near as interesting (either to the public or the legislature) as the invasion of privacy stuff.

Greitens is expected to resign later today. I guess there’s only so long you can hang on when you have absolutely no institutional support.

It is done.

And done - effective Friday.

Did he blame the Democrats, or the Deep State? Or both?

“This ordeal has been designed to cause an incredible amount of strain on my family … designed to cause maximum damage.”

By “ordeal” I’m sure he’s referring to his decision to adulterously fuck a hairdresser in his basement.

It’s done.

ETA: [shakes fist]

It’s those St. Louis liberals funded by George Soros who got in ahead of you there. Sorry.

I don’t understand how someone capable of making it through the most demanding military training on earth, could turn out to be such a bitch…pissing away his whole career by trying to take cheap shortcuts, to say nothing of his sordid sex life that may or may not have actually happened. None of these stupid bastards ever seem to have the slightest bit of concern for all the people who work for them, or the government they’re supposed to be working for, or how unbelievably disruptive it is to everyone around them when they publicly fuck up like this. He is a worthless bastard, just another one of a long line of people who treat high political office like a trophy rather than a job.

…fargin son-of-a-bastich rassafrassin potrzebie- I KNEW IT!

:stuck_out_tongue:

He’s been taking another page from the Trump playbook, calling it a “witch hunt”.

I wonder how much damage he’ll try to do before the end of the week.

In other news:

I’m sure the timing of this ruling and the governor’s decision to say “Screw this, I’m outta here!” is pure coincidence…

I read an article posted in another forum stating that the GOP wanted Greitens gone now, so to not undercut their efforts to unseat Claire McCaskill in four months.

Here’s CNN’s coverage of the resignation: https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/29/politics/eric-greitens-missouri-governor/index.html

Actually, the GOP would have been happier if Greitens had resigned in January, when the mistress story went public.

Or in March, when the stories about his misuse of his charity started to appear.

Or in April, when one of his biggest donors publicly called on him to resign.

Or a little later in April, when the Republican leadership in the Legislature asked him politely but publicly to resign.

Or a week later, when he was indicted on the second felony charge.

Or in early May, when the General Assembly voted 138-25 to call a special session to discuss impeachment.

Meanwhile the Democrats are already running ads like this about McCaskill’s likely opponent.
