Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens - indicted!

IMO, that last line is your answer to your first line puzzlement. It takes a highly goal-motivated individual to get through that training, as an achievement to be prized; but the person’s moral core is not transformed by the training, it’s either there or not. Sometimes, someone slips in who looks at it as proof they are superior, and will give their all for that – then afterwards look at professional success as another score to be attained, BUT since it is so much “easier”, *he will not respect it *and will see the rules of Civvie Street as made for the weak.

I was in a car and not listening to news all day. I finally get to check the news tonight, and… early birthday present! See ya!!

The St. Louis prosecutor dropped the remaining charge against Greitens after he announced his resignation. The reasoning given (that he’s unlikely to face jail time as a first offender) seems a little week, so I wonder if this was an informal agreement/plea bargain to avoid having to deal with a politically charged and possibly difficult case. I seem to recall a similar arrangement with Alabama’s former Gov. Bentley, where he agreed to step down, plea to some misdemeanor counts and agree to be barred from further political office in exchange for felony charges being dropped.

Yes, according to the prosecutor’s spokesperson. In fact, it was the Governor’s high-priced legal team that offered the deal.

But it’s not an “informal” agreement. It says right in the document that the deal won’t take effect until the Governor’s resignation is official.

According to the story, Greitens’ lawyers suggested the deal on Saturday. Before that came out, the prevailing thought was that a judge’s ruling earlier on Tuesday had been the catalyst for the resignation. It turns out the Gov. and his team had been ready to throw in the towel 72 hours earlier.

I saw that there was a denouement in this that IMO can only be described as “hilarious”:

Ehh, more of a twist than a dénouement. A dénouement has something of the air of finality to it.

You just know that Greitens is going to take this decision to court, thus keeping his name in the papers for at least a few more months.

To take it to court, he’d need to continue to have a legal team. A legal team which is now facing a very high probability of never getting paid. Good luck with that one.

Bill Cosby’s lawyers are available now.

Ohh, now that’s a parting shot for you… “guess what, you’ve buggered yourself AND will have to pay for it out of pocket”.

Why do I get the feeling that had he made things easy and gone away when he was asked nicely and before they incurred high expenses, they may have let it slide.

Trump’s charity donated $75K to Greitens’ charity.

So, one charity accused of being used inappropriately for political campaign purposes donates a big chunk of money to another charity accused of being used inappropriately for political campaign purposes. Anyone surprised?

Go away, boy. You’ve been shown the door.

Couldn’t even break 20%.
