Missouri woman escapes home after being held captive for weeks

I’ve seen other reports that the victim weighed under 90 lbs. She had a horrific experience locked up in this asshole’s basement. Whipped and raped repeatedly. Thankfully she escaped and neighbors helped her.

There may have been other victims.

The house is boarded up and has a high fence around it, probably to protect evidence they haven’t processed yet.

This is probably going to be a much bigger story in time. I’m glad she managed to escape.

I’m guessing no one had reported this woman as missing. :frowning:

Wonder how long he’s lived in the area? A thorough search of his property could wrap up some missing persons cases.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s abducted other women in the past few years.

Law enforcement acted quickly to secure that house and property for a search.

Horrifying! I hope she isn’t pregnant, no exceptions except medical emergency in Missouri.

She may have been prostituting out there on the corner, dangerous violent way to have to live. The extreme violence that can occur to them anytime they get in a vehicle is heartbreaking. And most of the time they don’t even bother reporting to the police the shit that happens to them, rape, theft, assault.

The victim insists her 2 friends are missing. The police response is frustrating. People living and hustling on the streets often won’t leave behind anyone concerned enough to file missing person reports.

The police have a victim with marks from whipping and abuse. They can’t ignore what’s happening this time.

The woman said she escaped the house when her captor took his child to school that morning.

Am I to understand that a child lives in this hellhouse?

The woman was held in the basement.

There was a case in Cleveland a few years ago where three women were held captive for 10 years.

Do they make basements deep enough that you can’t hear screams from the rest of the house? I guess that makes sense.

I don’t really know much about basements. The two or three I’ve been in, you could definitely get someone’s attention by yelling.

In the Cleveland case you cited, the kid was apparently brought up to think holding mommy captive in her room was normal. Unless I’m misreading. “When Amanda Berry’s toddler daughter had night terrors and started screaming and running around the room, Berry couldn’t always get to her - because she was chained and couldn’t move that far.” “As the girl grew older, Berry wrote, it became harder and harder to hide the strangeness of their lives.”

If not, I’d suspect that someone who would do this sort of thing would probably invest in sound proofing.
