MLB: 2022 Postseason

LA Times was fairly scathing on the Dodgers.

Was not paywalled for me.

Not paywalled for me either. Thanks for this. I’ll enjoy reading it.

OT, I think it was Colbert who said, “Autumn is a magical time in Los Angeles, as you watch the birds changing color and falling off the trees.

Bill Plaschke, LA Times:

“Ten postseason appearances, nine postseason failures.

Nine West Division championships, and just one World Series championship, in a COVID-shortened season of just 60 games, the 2020 title looking more deserving of an asterisk with each passing nightmare.”

I love it.

ETA:

I love the Padres. I will love them forever. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

This team has no pitching depth, at all. Even if they can come back against Cleveland, how could this staff survive a best of seven with Houston?

Most mystifying of all, why try to get 7 outs with Wandy Peralta? And when he faltered, you bring in Clarke freaking Schmidt? Holmes was ready to go. Boone and Cashman need to take their talents to South Beach. Or Boliviia.

I like Clark but you got to get wins when you get the chance. Not bringing Holmes in was really poor decision making.

That was a beautiful article.

Hate Plaschke’s writing style. It’s like he has a metaphor book he copies and pasted from. But he’s right. I’m in LA since ‘99. Seen plenty of home team games. They blew it. Could not hit, much like their last few games against good teams.

But enough of that. My SECOND favorite team (Cubs are first), the PHILLIES, blew the shit out of Atlanta, (most hated team in the East)!! Who knew?

None of my old school chums or even any sportswriters were picking PHL over ATL. NONE!

But here we go, and I have no idea who will win the NLCS.

Juan is fighting Bryce!

At least the Yanks came out fighting. Let’s get back to the Bronx!

Sounds like a good plan.

:crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

I’d feel better if they hadn’t allowed that run in the 3rd, though (or if they would score now)…two runs isn’t much of a lead.

7 runs would be a nice lead.

And only 1 is terrible.

Need 3 more outs.

I would love to tack on some runs.

No, the guardians need three more runs.

And we force a game 5! Woot!

And there will be a game 5 in the Bronx!

Boom.

About time the Yankees got some breaks, fly balls that just land fair some close plays at first that barely went the Yankees’ way, a good start fof Cole. It affected both teams but that umpire had a huge strike zone, way more high strikes called than I’ve seen for some time but he also gave the pitchers the low strike and a little margin inside and outside. Naylor’s rock the baby trot was the most bush league thing I’ve ever seen. Had this been the regular season, he would have gotten drilled the next time up for that stunt.

I’m so ready for Umpires not calling balls and strikes. The 3 of 4 Umps haven’t looked good in this series. Poor calling and more importantly, inconsistent strike zones.

I’m glad with the way the Yanks have been playing, they’re at least getting a deciding game back home. Hopefully their bats finally come to life tonight.

Of course, I don’t feel like we have a strong chance against Houston, but I will take having that chance at least.
