MLB: 2022 Postseason

This is kind of insane. I’m starting to wonder if the entire NYY-CLE game — currently in the top of the 7th — might get played during the HOU-SEA extra innings.

When did the Mariners Houston game start?

Breaking the record of just last week in the Guardians-Rays game.

18 innings ties this game with three others for the longest in playoff history.

And the Astros took a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the 18th.

13:07 Pacific (4pm Eastern)

I’m watching the NYY-CLE game, and TNT has been showing the HOU-SEA score on screen in the top right corner the whole time; it’s very handy/appreciated, even though I’m also keeping an eye on my MLB app for details of that game.

Thanks. The longest game by time was 7:20 which was also an 18 inning game. This one is “only” 6:20 so far.

The marathon is over: HOU has swept SEA.

Ugh.

yeah, but at least Houston did not win game 3 (it was a tie and they had to play game 4)

LOL!

I’m not too disappointed. The Mariners took one of the best teams in baseball to the mat for every game. Houston squeaked by each one just barely. It’s hard to argue that they didn’t over-perform.

I’m really looking forward to next season!

And Cleveland scores 3 in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Yankees 6-5 and take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Two great baseball games tonight.

wow, they choked … last time I said anything like I did this year again, I sort of expected a breakdown back in Aug/Sept… for some reason, they just can’t get it done post-season…

A PERFECT day!!

The Braves were eliminated!
The Astros swept and advanced to the ALCS!
The Guardians won!

And, sweeter than sweet, the Dodgers choked and are out! WOO-HOO!!!

Dodgers and Yankees both out? How long until there are renewed calls to extend the division series to 7.

Yanks Bullpen is pretty devastated with injuries. The Guardians shut down our offense and Boone is not by any stretch a great manager. He’s making some odd late inning calls to the bullpen.

I don’t see how 5 or 7 games make a huge difference. The pre-All Star break Yanks were a great team. This October team has some real issues.

Bill Plaschke jinxed us. He wrote an unbelievably condescending column in Thursday’s LA Times about how San Diego would always be the “little brother” to LA, and, like sibling relationships everywhere, the little brother thought there was a rivalry while the big brother didn’t even notice. Then predicted Dodgers in 4. Thanks a lot, Bill! Think the big brother is going to consider it a rivalry now?

The Yankees aren’t out yet: the next game in that series is tonight at 7pm (ET).

:man_facepalming: Oops, wishful thinking.

The 5/6 wild cards in the NL and all 3 AL division winners left.

Weird but that’s why they play the games
