MLB: 2022 Postseason

When was the last time someone swept through three rounds of the postseason?

Nobody has done that yet in MLB since the playoff expansion of 1995. The closest is teams who have gone 11-1.

Indeed, only one team even swept through when it was a two round postseason; the 1976 Reds.

Well, the 2014 Royals won the WC game, then swept the Angels 3-0, then the Orioles 4-0. So not exactly a 3-round sweep, but close.

I’m ready to fire Boone. This team had the potential to be one of the great all time teams (injuries played a huge role, but still) but Boone’s post season managing sucked. Carpenter shouldn’t have started- period. Donaldson can field but he can’t do anything at third that IKF can’t. Peraza should be the shortstop, Cabrera the left fielder. Too many postseasons, this team has underachieved. How many years of suckitude did it take to give up on Chapman? Ditto for Sanchez. How long did Gallo have to strike out before he got traded? Maybe with healthy Benintendi, Hader, Stanton, and Judge they have a solid outfield. I like IKF, Peraza, Torres, and Rizzo around the infield. Trevino has earned the starting catcher role. Other than a couple more starters and a horse in the bullpen, this team is a world championship team. Now, they’re just a playoff team.

Boone is not a good field msnager.

Houston is just better, in every way. The hitters, the starters, the relievers. No, Carp shouldn’t be starting, and Donaldson shouldn’t be anywhere near the middle of the line-up. And yes, Boone isn’t much of an in-game manager, but would any of it matter? Can’t win any games when you don’t score.

The third game was so boring I turned it off in the 7th. I probably won’t even bother with the next edition.

I’ll watch game 4 tonight just because some hope remains, but I no longer have the optimism I did when I was younger (i.e., four days ago).

My NL pick, the Padres, are also looking pretty shaky at the moment. I’ll keep an eye on that game 5 this afternoon.

There’s a fair chance the Yankees won’t lose tonight - there’s some rain incoming and probably at least a delay if not an outright postponement

If both CS series end today, the WS would be AL #1 vs NL #6. I wonder if the disAstros could sweep through all three of their playoff rounds.

I hate the Asterisks with the white hot fury of a thousand suns, so of course they will!

In a way, the short ALCS is a good thing, having, myself, no appreciation for pinstripes neither.

When did TBS start putting gambling information on screen during the game? Is this something new or have I not been paying attention? It feels off.

It’s just to piss off Pete Rose.

Congratulations to the Phillies!!

Well, the Phillies are going to the WS. *sigh*

Bryce Harper’s HR in the bottom of the 8th was CLUTCH.

Absolutely. I have mixed feelings about Harper, but there’s no denying the man can play the game.

Here’s hoping the ALCS doesn’t end tonight… :crossed_fingers:

Start of game 4 is delayed…Great_Antibob might be both correct and funny…

I just looked at the ALCS schedule. If the Yankees win tonight, they play again tomorrow. If the Yankees win on Monday, they play again on Tuesday. If the Yankees win on Tuesday, they play again on Wednesday. That would be games on five consecutive days.

I can’t remember…was there a rainout in this series?
