And the fun is about to begin. I think it’s going to be a close series.
Snell got out of the bases-loaded jam but the Jays made him throw 29 pitches. The Dodgers are going to have to go to that bullpen sooner than they’d like, and that’s when the Jays will do real damage.
Bad base running IMO by the Jays there. With two outs it’s not worth it.
I’m not too worried about that. The Dodgers have Sheehan and Kershaw in the bullpen. Both are starters and know how to eat innings, despite Kersh’s last performance. Also, Blake could still go at least 6. I think Toronto will be digging into their bullpen first.
And the Jays get the big hit against the human thumb.
Where did he get that name?
He looks like a thumb with a goatee drawn on it
I’m only half-watching, but did Banda just give up six runs in 10 pitches? How many were charged to him?
Looks like 3.
Toronto 11-2, I’m calling it a night.
There’s no dodging this blowout.
Unbelievable start! Both teams used plenty of pitchers. Toronto really came out hitting and their bullpen was decent.
Wow. Just wow!
I am surprised by this outcome, but, I admit that I haven’t been paying much attention to the Blue Jays this season. But John Smoltz said before the game that the Blue Jays do have a potent lineup so it won’t necessarily be the Dodgers walking away easily with the championship.
Well, it ended up being Toronto 11-4, but no problem.
Blue Jays need to keep their focus. One win at home is great, another win at home would be better.
I’m hoping for a Toronto sweep.
I think that’s extremely unlikely, but I’m still hoping for it.
It’s much more likely than a Dodger sweep.
…
That is factually correct.
I’m rooting for the Blue Jays, but also seven games. Preferably with a game seven bottom-of-the-ninth walk off.
This was prescient. The Dodger’s bullpen is a ticking time bomb, and this series will be decided by how often they have to use it and how often it explodes when they do.
Toronto has the perfect lineup to run up pitch counts, especially against a pitcher like Snell. Dodger’s are really going to need one (of both) of Yamamoto and Glasnow to give them 7+ IP. Of course they are both perfectly capable of doing that. If they can get to Sasaki it can all work out, but I’m not sure there is a single other pitcher in that bullpen that Dave Roberts really trusts.
The Dodgers swept – and dominated – the Brewers in the NLCS, largely because they got 4 stellar outings from starters; most of the damage that the Brewers were able to do was against the Dodger bullpen.
