Game 2 already looks dramatic! Lots of pitches and pitchers we should see today.
From the UK, with Nord VPN at hand, I could not find a free live feed. And we’re just about to fall back to GMT and “gain” an hour. So MLB.com and Toronto radio,
Ohtani can pitch if needed right? I’ve heard the Dodgers bullpen is tired and the Dodgers are willing to give up the DH for an inning or two. They may not need relief - Yamamoto has pitched complete games. 1-1. Let’s go to the fourth, yet it’s after 2AM to me. Don’t care who wins the series, yet would like to see the Jays take this one.
Never seen an intermission concert during a baseball game before. I guess it is a worthy cause (cancer), and was just one song, but huh.
I don’t like it- not that it isn’t a worthy cause- but it interrupts the flow of the game. Never liked the Yankee’s hyperpatriotic 7th inning stretch, either.
Concert? Like they hauled a flatbed out to center field and played songs? Fifth inning?
The Yankees do “God Bless America” with as many Marines and as large a flag as they can find. Sometimes they can fit in ‘Take me out to the ballgame’ yet as a Mets fan, pardon me, Fuck the Yankees.
Yeah, pardon me.
My dad, who came to America when he was 14 and grew up with the Brooklyn Dodgers, still would root for the LA Dodgers except for 1988, when the Dodgers beat the Mets.
A great dislike of the Yankees is just how it was. And I was at Game 5 of the 2000 WS at Shea.
Drat. The mlb,com feed is way ahead of the Toronto “The Fan” radio and I was had no clue how it was suddenly 2-1.
I’ll check out the trial websites if don’t have to give them 30 days notice.
3-1, I’ll assume it’ll be 1-1 when it goes to LA.
Flip side of the coin, I never think about the Mets at all.
And another complete game from Yamamoto.
And of course Hershisher was the last Dodger to go back to back complete games in the playoffs.
Weird coincidence: Hersh and I share the same orthopedic surgeon.
Imagine that- when a guy is pitching well and you leave him in there, good things happen.
How did that work out for the Blue Jays?
Max Scherzer pitching tonight for Toronto. Who’d have thunk it, especially after how horribly he pitched down the stretch.
The reaction to it has been, to say the least, ASTONISHINGLY negative. I don’t think people would have had much of a problem with the “Stand up with a little sign” bit, but a Jonas Brothers mini concert really seemed stupid - I realize they’re dedicated spokesmen for the cause, but it just wasn’t the right thing at that moment and stretched the break out way too long.
I give MLB some credit for trying something new. I bet we won’t see that done again.
You didn’t hear? Manfred just announced the new baseball and country music mashup. Each game will feature at least 8 songs, performed one at a time between innings.
They just finished the opening ceremonies for tonight’s game (Monday, October 27). There was, as there often is, a flypast of aircraft.
What were the aircraft? They looked rather like old WWII warbirds, but maybe somebody better than me at recognizing aircraft might be able to tell us for sure.
That was a formation of five North American T-6 Texan - Wikipedia. A WW-II era training plane used with only minor variations by the US’s Army Air Corps and Navy, as well as Canada’s Royal Canadian Air Force. Plus many others during WWII & subsequently.
USAAC called it the Texan, while USN called it the SNJ, and RCAF & other commonwealth forces called it the Harvard.
Those paintjobs are an air-showed up version of US Army Air Corps standard paint from back around the start of WWII.
Nice to see the Jays rebound from that terrible call.
Though I am still conflicted about rooting for any team with (ex-Cheatstro) George Springer on the roster.
