MLB: 2025 Postseason

Jesus, that was god-awful and the homeplate ump should never, ever, be allowed in the playoff (let alone the WS again). We are not watching to see you grandstand, fuckhead!

Thank you, @LSLGuy ! My first thought was maybe Harvards, but like I said, I’m not good with these things. Glad you could and did provide a precise identification, and more.

Thanks again!

Close to a Kent Hrbek Moment there (Twins 1B who infamously pushed a Brave off of 1st for an out in a critical moment in the 1991 World Series).

Well, that’s why tickets to pro lacrosse games are cheap.

I get being aggressive, but the Jays are making some pretty crazy baserunning decisions. They’ve run themselves out of at least two innings now.

Who else is still awake?? Not Dodgers or Blue Jays.

I’m still watching. I feel for the viewers in the Eastern time zone, for whom it is coming up on 2 am. How many will arrive late or just call in sick to work tomorrow?

Here in the West Coast, bars almost closed!

Freeman with the walk off home run.

Why is it that batters struggle to get hits the later the game goes on? I would have thought that the worse and worse the bullpen gets, the easier it would be for batters to score.

This was my thought. But it didn’t really seem like batters were going for the shot, more like a chance. A steal maybe?

Anyway, was great to watch two Ws games at once. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

It is what it is. Dodgers lead 3-1 in the Series; Jays aren’t quitting. They demonstrated that tonight. Both teams went through pitchers like my Grandmother went through Kleenex. That’s the nature of sports.

In the end, somebody’s gotta win and somebody’s gotta lose, and we’ve got at least one game to go.

Two-one! Not really over.

Blame it on the beer I consumed throughout. (Hic!)

I’ve been trying to follow the games as well as I can. I check in this morning 6AM (GMT) and look for a final score and they’re still going. Glad there’s no ghost runner and hope this game doesn’t lend to calls to have one, even something like “after the 14th”.

Tough loss for Toronto with two guys in scoring position left on base (in the 18th). Gotta bounce back and bring it back to Toronto.

Ohtani was supposed to pitch tonight, and I don’t see him in the 10 (!)1 pitchers the Dodgers used. It’d be cool he goes 9 and it still goes into extras.

1 I reckon 10 pitchers is a new record. 18 innings ties Dodgers -v- Red Sox 7 years ago

WoW! I went to bed when they were tied at 5-5 and thought that maybe I could stay up a few minutes later to see the end…and I get up early just to see that they finished just about the time I am getting up!

Wow(!) is right! Here in California I had a long day, then watched it tape delayed. A long, tense, nail-biter and then Freddie walks it off in the 18th! I stayed awake to the end, and now it is 2am and I’m finally going to bed.

Will the Dodgers win the next 2? Or will the Blue Jays win any of the remaining games? With Shohei pitching in game 4, that means a likely Dodgers win.

Shohei Ohtani continues to shine. He had nine plate appearances and reached base nine times–four hits and five walks. He hit two home runs, hit two doubles, drove in three, and scored three runs.

Proving that he is human, he was caught stealing in the ninth when his foot came off the bag after he beat the throw.

The good news for the Blue Jays is that every time the Dodgers win an 18 inning World Series game, they go on to lose the series.

I was at one my favorite watering holes watching the first half of the MNF game and, of course, the World Series game was on a few of the many available TVs. When I left, the Jays were up 4-2. Who knew then that they would only score one more run during the rest of the evening.

The game, two games in one really, put a strain on the bullpens of of both teams. Do you think one team was affected more than the other because of a lack of bullpen depth, or do you think that it is pretty much a wash?

In any case, I’m not giving up hope for the Jays. They are a very good team, but I think they really have to win game 4.

Surely that’s some sort of record - has anyone ever reached base 10 times in one game?
