I read an article once that claimed that a large component of home field advantage is the crowd influencing the decisions of the officials. Umpires being rated based off of objective PitchFX data might be a significant component in narrowing home field advantage in MLB.
He says he doesn’t care about that. You should be able to figure out who is going to win based on logic rather than data.
Feels like the strike zone is a bit different for each team.
Well, what do you know? There are a couple of actors in the crowd.
And you know what the most amazing coincidence is? They happen to be starring in an upcoming program on the FOX network!
Who would have believed that a couple of people with no discernible connection to Chicago or to baseball would end up in the World Series crowd and just happen to be noticed by the FOX cameras and announcers?
Serendipity is just beautiful sometimes.
I seem to recall that FOX did this with New Girl some years back, and some of the cast had fled the ballpark by the end of the sixth inning.
Perhaps you aren’t very familiar with the NBA, but the higher-seeded team doesn’t get to play every game at home. The teams alternate, 2-2-1-1-1. The advantage in win percentage in home games applies to the lower-seeded team as well as the higher-seeded team.
You just gotta love Bill Murray. That was classic.
Three games in, and zero memorable moments. No lead changes. No spectacular defense. No crazy errors. No offensive onslaught. Just great pitching.
Very nice to hear “Take me out to the ballgame”.
Soler, Soler, Soler.
You goat.
Disagree. Cubs got out of bases loaded with one out.
But you are right about the pitching. Indians use their ace closer early and still stump the lazy freaking Cubs… mumble grumble mumble grumble…

Not anymore, not with replay. No more Don Denkingers.
However, there may be strike zone differences.
I’m gonna puke. The World Series is fucking hard on a person.
To the MOD. This request may be more suited for IMHO but I thought I may get more responses by posting my question here. Please move this post if you feel so. - Thx!
Question: Anyone use SportSync SR-303 AM/FM Delay Radio? Its $70.00, but would allow me to listen to local broadcasts instead of some of those creeps on FOX. Feedback Much welcomed.
The MLB At Bat radio package is something like $20 for an entire season.
It is. I’m too old for this.
I thought that Jon Hamm’s 1908 Cardinals hat was a nice dig.
And Marv Levy was at Wrigley last night, and he was also at the 1945 World Series? That was wild.
What’s with the 7th-inning stretch and Bill Murray channeling Donald Duck?? What’s up with that?
Seemed silly.
