MLB. And here comes the Post Season!

But, c’mon folks, we fool ourselves. The bestest-ever series was 2010. Damn, I love that one. 2010, followed very closely by 2012 and 2014.

BELIEVEN

Go Giants!!!

I do believe this was an even year. Hopefully we can stop hearing about that now.

I bought the t-shirt more as a celebration of 10 12 14 than thinking they’d do it in 16. I am still a happy and grateful fan.

BELIEVEN

For obvious reasons this was my favorite World Series of all time, and it certainly was a great World Series, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was one of the best-played one. There were quite a few errors, bad at-bats, and other miscues. I’m just so glad the Cubs were able to pull through in the end.

The two teams combined made 11 errors. That’s not THAT high. In 2013 the Red Sox and Cardinals made 13 errors in just a six game series; the 2011 Rangers and Cardinals series also featured 13 errors. In 2010 the Giants and Rangers made six errors just in the first game. In 2004 the Red Sox made eight errors just in the first two games and still won both games.

I thought the Series was well played, but the last game did feature a noteworthy number of bungles, and ya kinda remember the last game the most.

Because many contending teams have a much more recent history of success?

And yes, yes I do, baseball players may be the most superstitious athletes of any sport. You play for a team with the “goat curse” and you fuck up in a key game, that can totally get in your kitchen and cause you to try too hard to overcome it - leading to more fuckups.

I gotta stop listening to AM 1000 and sports talk radio in general.

I end up more upset and less informed afterward…
Today I heard some dope on ESPN 1000 say that Joe Maddon was caught “napping” in both game 6 and game 7 of the World Series. Napping, napping. Really ???

I understand that these sports pundits have hours and hours of radio time to fill with analysis and second guessing {that’s their job}. But to say Maddon was caught napping is an insult to our manager and by extention to Cubs fans in general. Maddon is always engaged in the game and thinking about the what-ifs.

Sure, second guess him all day long. Lord knows I did multiple times this season. Especially regarding using Contreras over Ross, pulling Hendricks early etc. etc.

But, again, to say Maddon was somehow not paying attention to in-game developments during the World Series is just plain WRONG and bewildering. Maddon is always thinking ahead and though I don’t always agree with him he knows baseball better than I and those dopes on sport radio

Rant Over

Agree. I say it was probably the most historical one I’ll see, because of the 176 years of droughts.

Is it too early to start an off-season thread? The Braves have signed RA Dickey to a one-year deal.

I guess it was 6 days ago when I made this.

It kinda died on the vine. I guess everyone was bracing for the election.
