MLB: April 2022

Correct.

Cool. Extra cash when the trade deadline approaches.

True, he’ll be 33, but on the other hand, he’s never had a significant arm injury, and he’s only pitched 1300 innings in MLB games.

If he stays in shape, I can absolutely see some MLB team offering him a contract once the suspension is over – despite his history of various idiot behaviors (including the alleged assaults), there will always be some team willing to overlook that (or hope that he’s grown up), and which will give him another chance.

That could well mean that he spends a little time in the minors to sharpen up, but I don’t think it’s likely that he’d have to go to the minors specifically in an attempt to get an MLB contract.

Who’s gonna sign a guy who enjoys beating the shit out of women for sexual gratification? Bauer is never playing in MLB again.

Bauer has shown no signs of admitting any fault (or, in general, being less than a toolbox); it’s possible that no team will be willing to take on the PR storm involved in signing him.

But, two years is a long time from now, and it may well be that he finally listens to his agent or something, and starts sounding contrite. If so (and if he stays out of trouble in the meantime), there’ll be some team willing to give him a chance.

I’m not convinced Bauer will stay out of trouble.

A 3rd woman has come forward with accusations from 2013. Any new cases in the next two years could end his career. Imho.

When you replace Max Scherzer, Trea Turner and Anthony Rendon with guys that belong in the minor leagues, you’re not going to get better. Hard to blame Davey for the roster moves.

True. It’s frustrating that we were in a solid second place in the NL East last year before we decided to blow it all up.

“I believe so much in what we’re doing as a team [and] as an organization, like we’ve made so much progress.”

  • David Bell, manager of the 3-19 Cincinnati Reds.

Worst start in team history.

But as Reds president Phil Castellini told fans, “Where are you gonna go?”

On the positive side, it should be easier to score Reds tickets if we decide to go to a game this season. Although better quality baseball could be had at a Portland (Maine) Sea Dogs game.

I’m gonna take back… about 12%… of the bad things I had to say about the Nats the last couple days. Taking two out of three in San Francisco against the Giants feels kinda nice.

Now about that bullpen…

Another first for women in baseball this year.

Whitmore went 0-for-2 with a strikeout, an HBP, and a flyout, and was flawless in the field, making a couple of putouts on fly balls.

I may have to take a road-trip when the Cubs come to Cincinnati. I’m only a little over an hour from there.

Yanks won 10th straight on a night with only 7 hits and no walks. The Pitching staff has been great so far this season.

This was at Toronto. I was surprised to see attendance was only 18,577 at Rogers Centre. Even for a Monday in May that seems really low, especially with the Yanks in town. Was it abnormally low?

The Mets and Blue Jays, the latter of whom aren’t even in first place, each have two pitchers who’ve won more games than the Reds.

Joey Votto is 9 for 74 with one extra base hit, a double. I will be totally unsurprised if he announced his retirement before the All Star break.

Early season weeknight games usually don’t draw well, and the hockey playoffs started.

And one of those Jays pitchers got those 4 wins over 12 IP!
