I’m torn. Going into the trade deadline the two major suitors for Juan Soto are the Dodgers and the Padres. The Dodgers getting him would make them the undisputed kings of the NL. OTOH, if he lands with the Padres that team will be one of the most fun to watch for years, and I like Petco better than Chavez Ravine.
On the gripping hand Soto will probably land someplace completely different. We shall see…
For what it’s worth, the Cardinals are at the Nationals for yesterday and the next couple of days, and apparently they brought their whole front office with them. I’ve heard St. Louis as a major suitor for Soto.
I don’t want to see him leave, but I don’t hate the Cardinals; in fact, I like the Cardinals, and would still root for Soto to have success there, unlike Bryce Harper with the Phillies.
Someone on my Nationals Fans Facebook community is saying that there will be an announcement of some kind made at 6. And apparently the Nationals’ and Cardinals’ GMs were seen shaking hands and smiling during the game. UGH.
