MLB: July

TIm Lincecum has just no-hit the Padres on 148 pitches…
…can we please play San Diego every day from here on out?

Stand in line.

Lincecum just showed that he wasn’t Samson after all. Good job.

I visited Safeco Field last night for the first time. King Felix pitched a gem and the weather was great. Near the end of the game on the scoreboard jumbotron thing they showed some of the 9th from Petco. Cool. The announcer mentioned a few times that Timmy is a UW alum.

I was wearing my SFG hat and pullover. After the game I met a few Giants fans there, and some Mariners fans said that Lincecum should belong to the Mariners instead of the Giants. We had some good talks and the Seattle fans I met are classy people.

Mrs. Tango and I sat next to two M’s fans who pointed out #15 3B Kyle Seager as someone to watch. And Smoak also had a good game.

All in all it was a good baseball day.

Not to mention that the Mariners have homered in 21 straight games now, a new club record.

Raul Ibanez has 24 HRs, only needing 6 more by the end of the season to beat Ted Williams’ “record” for HRs by a 41-year-old (29).

Make that 22 straight games

That’s a hell of a lot of pitches by today’s standards. Hope he doesn’t pay for it down the line.

Amazingly, the Reds won and split the four game series with the Braves.

At least with the All-Star break he gets a nice long rest before the Giants next game.

This is Tim McCarver’s last year behind the mike. I have sorely missed watching the All-Star Game, but next year it looks like I can start again. I can’t wait.

He looks older than I remembered!

AL pitching! w00t!

I’m just bummed that Iwakuma didn’t get into the game.

I was wondering if it was okay for me to now get up off the floor and stop genuflecting at the statue of Mariano Rivera.

Not yet. Bud Selig will notify you when it is safe to arise.

You don’t really miss baseball…until its gone for four days!

Somehow, the Reds really have Liriano’s number. That’s three straight times we’ve beaten him.

I read somewhere that he started reciting Metallica lyrics to “Enter The Sandman” when Rivera came out. Brrrrr.

I’m glad I was at the ballpark, I totally missed that crap…

BTW here are my pics from the All-Star Game events in NYC I attended; for once I was pretty glad to be a Mets season ticket holder

Yes. Yes, he did. Hearing McCarver quote Metallica was one of the most bizarre things ever.

Wow, those are great pics, man! Thanks for sharing!

Huh. Weird game. The Mariners beat the Astros 4-2, on one hit, and no errors by the Astros.

The full box score looks a bit odd, though. The M’s scored 4 runs, but there are only 3 RBI’s credited in the box.
