Oh, dear. What a collapse by the Giants. Ugh.

The last time they went 0-3 to start the season they went 114-45 the rest of the way.
I’ll breathe a sigh of relief the moment they’re mathematically eliminated and not a minute before.
1998 worked out quite well despite and 0-3 start, but still a brutal way to begin. Somehow the Red Sox looked worse. Nice trick.
Barry Zito: 8 shutout innings, 4 hits, 0 walks today at Coors Field. Party like it’s 2002! Or start watching out for flying pigs.
Oh my, make that a complete game shutout! Thought for sure they’d have Brian Wilson in to finish off the game.
Contract year?
Nope…still two more years on that contract.
Okay, let’s see if the Os can pick up where the Rays left off. Tomorrow we are rewarded with the Tigers in Detroit.
Yeah, he’s playing for a raise…
Joe
Yu Darvish is not off to a good start. 42 pitches in the 1st and 4 runs.
Ivan Nova has the best start of the season so far for the Yanks. 5 innings of 1 run ball so far and only 62 pitches.
Yeah, the O’s are delivering the chicken soup tonight…
Cy Zito with the complete game shutout. Giants scoring more than 5 runs per game. Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner all struggling. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!
David Ortiz just got caught stealing in the 7th inning of a close game. Well, that’s a bizarre strategy.
The big guy is actually running better than you’d think - he has lost weight the last couple of years and he can get around a lot quicker than you might expect - and it was really close, but man, that is a weird decision.
…And Sergio Santos blows the save for the Blue Jays, the Rd Sox tying it in the top of the ninth.
Santos has great suff but absolutely no command at all. He misses his target on more than half his pitches; frankly, he’s been lucky to get guys out that he has.
ETA: He couldn’t even get out of the inning. Gosh, what a disaster. I want Nestor Molina back.
The best team in baseball: The NY Metropolitians
He settled down, his offense came through, and he still got the win. Hector Noesi, who the M’s got in the Pineda deal, was not good at all. Bizzarro world Seattle’s offense has been good, but their pitching has been mediocre.
Boy, that’s some kind of bullshit right there.
The Marlins’ decision to hire Ozzie Guillen to connect with Latin fans is blowing up in the most spectacular way possible: a few days ago he said some complimentary things about Fidel Castro, who is not very popular in the Miami area. The team just suspended Guillen for five games. I’m sure Miami expected to have to put out a few fires, but there’s no way they saw this coming.
Why is it bullshit? You don’t think the Yankees would suspend their manager if he said he “loved” Osama Bin Laden? You don’t just shit all over your biggest market like that and expect no sort of sanction.
Or did you mean that a 5-game suspension is a bit weak? In which case I might agree with you.
Also, what’s up with the shitty attendance already in so many places? The crowd in Cincy was just pathetic last night. I’d think facing a division rival in only Game 4 (on what seemed like a pretty nice evening weather-wise) would do better than 17k or so (with a smaller crowd than that showing up). And I saw pics of Oakland at game time that Marlins-circa-2011 bad.
I went up to Wrigley (for the first time!) last weekend to watch the Cubs blow a game they should have won. So that was fun. And even there the place wasn’t full for Game 2 of the season! I know the Cubs are gonna suck, but still…
