MLB: March/April 2019

I’ll take Yankees vs Dodgers.

Go Cubs!

It has begun! Mariano Rivera through out the first Pitch and Tanaka has retired the first 2.

Sweet, Judge singles to right, Stanton singles to right and Judge aggressively takes third.
Voit homers to the Monuments in Center.

Andujar’s out was a long fly out to the track and Sanchez follows with a soft single. He took advantage of the shift.

I haven’t watched much baseball the past couple years (life got in the way; funny how a crumbling marriage, depression, and flailing in one’s career can distract one from sports). But I’m excited to try to resume my fandom and Cardinals boosterism this year. Y’all may remember me as Bayard, the guy who was always going on about Yadier Molina. By the way, I saw a couple clips of Molina gunning down runners in spring training. He caught one poor bastard by like a step and a half. And Molina is 36!! He just signed a new contract and should finish out his career as one of the greatest Cardinals ever.

Funny story: for Christmas, my seven year old son decorated a coffee mug for me with, “#4 Dad”. I was kind of perplexed until he explained that Yadi is the best player, and he wears #4, so I’m the Yadier Molina of dads.

Since I was out of the baseball loop last year, I didn’t really catch on to Jordan Hicks, who apparently has a bionic arm. He threw a couple of 105mph fastballs last season?! Holy Cow!

Goldschmidt should be a significant upgrade at 1st, and with him the offense doesn’t look too shabby.

Go Cards!

Good—then for you, this never happened. Don’t click—remain in blissful ignorance.

I heard about that, but I don’t think I saw the clip until just now. I’m amazed he walked off the field after that . From the article:

Yeah, no biggie. Just a fastball to the ol’ twig and berries. Let me just walk off the field under my own power so I can have emergency surgery.

I can’t believe it. For the first time in my life, after watching a lot of baseball, I see a baserunner hit by a batted ball. Even more amazing, the umpires didn’t immediately call it. The play went on and the out was made at third later in the play, and apparently the home plate umpire came out and corrected the play retroactively.

It was Orioles v Yankees, BTW. Voit, Judge, Stanton all look good. Bird had a nice HR off a lefty.

Picture-in-picture is a beautiful thing. Having my Dodgers and Indians side-by-side on the TV on Opening Day. I am happy.

Also, Kluber is through four innings on only 30 pitches.

Happy Opening Day, Everyone!

Unofficial opening day song

Reds win 5-3 on Opening Day. Sweet!

I’m a little worried the Dodgers bats didn’t have much pop today and Seager’s swing didn’t have it’s old sweetness. Our opening day pitcher’s ERA was over 1 too.

Astros beat up on last year’s Cy Young winner, so that’s a pretty good opening day.

DeGrom goes 6, pulled after about 90 pitches. 0 Runs, 5 hits, 10 KOs. Strikes out the side twice. Cano hits a HR in his first AB as a Met. Lugo out of the pen in the 7th strikes out the side. Familia and Diaz allow no hits., Mets win 2-0

That is old fashioned Mets baseball!

ha! I make no such pledge and wish giant stadium (and padre stadium) to slide off in the pacific and still agree with you …. I don’t see the Rockies or d-backs doing much over 500 if they even get there …

so we should see the dodgers in the series and will watch the parade in la when it happens

all the other posers can stay home :p:D

I think it was more like “new fashioned Nationals baseball,” but enjoy your moment!

Who the heck is Luke Voit? Why did the Cardinals give him up for almost nothing? I know it’s still a small sample, but he sure seems like the real deal.

I brought him up to show this cool pic. It shows the exact moment he’s hit by a pitch just above the elbow. The ball made a furrow through his arm as it travelled.

Luke Voit is the man of steel or the man that the Yanks did steal.

He might only be Shane Spencer part 2 but his plate discipline has improved a lot just since he joined the Yanks and the Cards may have screwed up on this one.

Two hits in ten innings for the Jays. Bring up Vlad Jr. now!

At least Marcus Stroman was terrific. That’s nice to see.
