So the A’s took 2 from the Giants in the Bay Bridge Series. The worst thing about that is that it brings out the chest-thumping A’s fans, who harbor deep feelings of animosity and insecurity concerning the Giants. On the other hand, I don’t know of any Giants fan who thinks about the A’s at all, except for some vague feelings of good will.

Same dynamic with the Raiders and 49ers, by the way.

The Reds have won 14 out of their last 17 games…

Nats offense finally shows some life.

I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to them but I was mildly shocked when I perused the standings yesterday and saw they were something like one game over .500. I had thought their record to be much better than that.

They have had a bad start, a victim of over hype.

And since this happened, the Royals have gone 4-18.

Picked up two whole games on the Cards, too!

In fact, I think as of this morning the 3 best records in all of baseball are in the NL Central.

I was noticing that myself. (Though the Pirates are only tied for third.)

Closer Glen Perkins is the Twins’ strikeout leader.

Yeah…about that…:smack: (I’m a bad fan. I bailed when it got painful to watch.)

On the upside, Ryu just got his first complete game and his first shutout, beating the Angels 3-0.

That’s just bizarre. I can’t think of the last time that has happened.

Yeah, I think NL Central is the toughest division this year, and I think NL East is the weakest.

In 2001, the Astros and Cardinals tied for the best record in the NL; the Cubs were 6th. (They weren’t all that great, though, at 93 wins each. That was the year Seattle won 116.)

Over/under on how long the Royals’ losing streak (currently at 8 games) will last? I’m thinking 14.

The big question is when the Glasses’ patience with Moore and Yost finally runs out. I do think that the current nosedive should probably do the trick, but I’d hate for the Royals to go into the draft without a real GM, that got us Luke Hochevar last time.

I’d give you excellent money on 11. No team should be EXPECTED to lose six games in a row.

If you told me that ther was a game that had Jordan Zimmermann starting and in which Ryan Zimmerman would hit 3 HRs, I would assume that the Nationals won that game. I was so naive back then (12 hours a

This seems as good a place, and as good a time as any to share this:
The 10th anniversary of The Worst Baserunning in the History of the Game

looking at ESPN’s in-progress box score for tonight’s Indians-reds game:
Homer Bailey’s pitching line shows 3 runs given up but 6 earned runs, and at the same time

The Indians’ offensive box score shows 4 runs scored total and 6 RBIs.

Hard to do, folks, hard to do!

PS: Now they have it fixed–7 of everything!

Ack! I sat down to watch this game in the fourth inning. Score was 0-0. Bailey seemed to be pitching well. I turned off the TV when it suddenly became 6-0 in the blink of an eye in the very same inning. Jesus, all that damage done with two outs, too! FFS..I hate the Reds inconsistencies both on the road and against good teams. Fuck me running.
