Jesus the Reds are woeful right now. Lost two very winnable games to the Sox.
Cincinnati’s bullpen is the pits.

Did I hear correctly that the Reds’ new manager is Brian Price? Former Mariners pitching coach?
It seems like the A’s are always playing the Mariners. How does that happen? But it was important that they win the second game of that double header. Whew. Having lost several games in a row and a large number over the last week, and they’re still in first place by two games?
Giants limp into Los Angeles for a four game series. They really need a split, but a sweep would be sooooo nice.
Toronto hit three home runs in the seventh inning last night, and I’d swear the announcer said it was the first time in team history they’d ever done that.
That seems very unlikely to me - this is a team that once hit ten home runs in one game, so you’d think it must have happened once before. I can’t figure out how to find it though.
ETA: I just looked up the boxscore of the 10-homer game and, sure enough, they his three homes in one inning in that game, at least.
One and the same. He was the pitching coach for the Reds last year and was named Dusty Baker’s replacement after Dusty was fired at the end of last season.
Reds are struggling with injuries and poor play right now. They have 11 one run losses, 11 runners thrown out at home and the worst bullpen ERA in MLB.
I agree. A Dodger sweep of the Giants at home would be great!
Nats whin the Dodgers series and we get to see Fister start tomorrow against Oakland.
Glad to see a series win vs. the Dodgers after going 1-5 against them last season. The Braves are looking pretty bad when they’re not playing the Nats. The Marlins, who we’ve beaten 5 of six times, are looking pretty good against everyone else. I’m hoping they fall back to earth soon. Baseball is certainly an unpredictable game.
Holy crap, Hisashi Iwakuma, in only his second start after coming off the DL, goes 8 innings and gets a 1-0 win against the Royals.
As far as the 9th inning … Tampa Bay fans, has Fernando Rodney always been this panic-inducing? Since he came in as the Mariners’ closer, it’s like every save attempt starts with ball after ball after ball and it’s all “Oh crap he’s gonna fuck up that awesome starting pitching performance and lose the game!” And then he pulls it out and gets the save. I don’t know a lot about this guy.
I think that guy played for the Giants a couple years ago…only he went by the name Brian Wilson at the time.
Yu Darvish loses another no-hitter with two out in the bottom of the ninth. Big Papi somehow threads a ground ball single through three guys on the right side of second base.
The big story also being the “error” called in the seventh inning when two fielders miscommuncated. I won’t say this is NEVER called an error, but pretty darn close!
It’s kinda sad how far Dan Uggla has dropped. He will probably end up as the MLB’s most expensive utility player. From all accounts, he’s a great guy, a teammate who works hard. His dropoff isn’t likely due to all night drinking binges or orgies with multiple women. He just somehow lost 'it." I thought the eyesight may have been the issue last year, but the LASIK surgery didn’t fix anything. It seems he has become the David Duval of baseball.
Maybe he stopped eating skinless grilled chicken.
coughshiftcough
Derek Norris of the A’s hit 3-run homers in both the first and second innings in today’s game against former A’s pitcher Gio Gonzalez.
Jays manager John Gibbons, trying to explain why the team was again dreadful today, said they “looked tired.”
It’s May 11 and your team is TIRED? So who do they fire, the trainers or the manager? 'Cause it’s one or the other if a major league ball club is TIRED six weeks in with eighteen weeks to go.
Both on 3 - 0 counts with two outs.
The best defensive shortstop in MLB may just be Brandon Crawford, Giants. See if you can find his highlights online somewhere…he takes at least one hit away from somebody every freakin’ game.
Speaking of highlights, is ESPN SportsCenter on a baseball boycott? I see it most days (11-noon) at the gym. For the last 3 weeks it’s been non-stop NFL draft coverage. With that mercifully over, you’d think they’d be free to show some baseball. Nah. Basketball. NFL. Sterling.
Today’s Top 10 plays included 3 soccer plays (are you kidding me?). Two baseball plays, one of which was a fan catching a foul ball.
