MLB: October 2017 — Welcome to the Postseason

And balance has once again been restored to the Universe.

Congrats Astros!

The Astros won, and they deserved to.

I assume George Springer will be MVP.

'Stros before hoes!

See you all next April…

Congratulations to the Astros. They were definitly the better team tonight.

Wow! Incredible series. Congrats Astros!

The better team won.

Should Dodgers play Astros at home next year…and I’m McCullers…I wouldn’t dig into the box too much the first AB.

The Astros win! The Astros win! Oh my God, the Astros win!

We #EarnedHistory.

Told ya… July 30th.

Only 104 days until pitchers and catchers report…

Morton and Peacock were great finds by Houston.

Happy to see Verlander get a ring. And the rest of the guys too, but as an unfulfilled Tigers’ fan, I’d been hoping for this outcome since Aug 31.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Congrats to Springer on his MVP!

And my nephew won, too!!! A great night!

I’m coining the phrase now: If you fuck up, Yu Darvished.

What kind of money could you have won in Vegas betting the Astros win and Verlander loses his two starts?

Man, Darvish shaved millions off his free agent contract.

A.J. Hinch deserves a lot of credit. He got everything he could out of his pitching staff. There is a psychological lift when you get past Keuchel and Verlander, but Morton and McCullers are pretty damn good too. Happy to see Beltran and McCann get rings.

So where’s the hot stove thread?

ETA: I’ve never heard a quieter crowd in a postseason series. Is it acoustics or the way they mic they stadium, or are L.A. fans just too laid back, man?

Congrats to the Astros.

The Dodgers fans can fall back on their old refrain. “Wait until next year”

We can also take some small comfort in the fact that the Giants cratered with such an impact this season that it will still be spoken of as a simile for incompetence and failure generations from now.

Good job, Houston. The better team won.

Definitely one of the more entertaining series I’ve watched, and it could have gone either way. The Dodgers 2017 lineup consisted of power hitters all up and down the lineup, but they weren’t consistently good enough at the kind of hitting that typically helps teams win in October. Give the Astros pitchers and defense some credit though. Although it wasn’t always a thing of beauty, they pitched well and fielded well in critical situations when they really needed it.

The Astros might be around for a while too. A young team, consisting of largely home-grown talent that probably has another year or two before they start feeling the pressures of free agency. The Astros organization has basically written the textbook on how to build a champion, and it’s a blueprint that’ll likely be imitated for at least the next 5 years if not the next 10 or more.
